    How to Install Android N Developer Preview in LG Google Nexus 5X

    Google launched LG made Nexus 5X smartphone last year as the upgrade to its earlier flagship Nexus 5. It came latest Android Marshmallow OS, which is specialty of any Nexus device, to run on the latest operating systems. Now, since we know Android N is the next major update and Google has already rolled out Developer Preview 2 why dont we install it on our Nexus 5X? Well, there's no reason to not update the phone to new Android N.

    So, if you have Nexus 5X and want to test out Android N before the world does, simply follow these few simple steps. Remember, these steps are to upgrade manually. If you have enrolled Android Beta Program, you can get the Android N Developer Preview upgrade like official OTA too. So, for the manual process, let's start.


    • You must Backup the entire data of your phone on PC before starting the process or you may loose your stuffs.
    • Charge up the battery to atleast 50% to make sure it wont get drained out during process
    • Download Nexus 5X USB Driver and install it on your PC.
    • Download ADB and Fastboot, save it on your desktop
    • Download Android N Developer Preview Image for Nexus 5X
    • Enabled USB Debugging by going to phone Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging. If you can't see Developer option, then go to 'About' and tap the build number 7 times.
    • Make sure you have unlocked Bootloader

    Android N Developer Preview Installation Process:

    • Start by extracting the Adb & Fastbook in a folder on your desktop.
    • Extract the download Android N package (NPC56K folder) to the same folder where ADB is extracted.
    • Install the download USB Driver on your PC.
    • Turn of Nexus 5X completely and then Press and hold 'Volume Down + Power key' for few seconds until it boots into Bootloader Mode.
    • Now connect the phone to PC using USB cable.
    • Once properly connected, double click the flash-all.bat to run it.
    • Now leave the PC and phone for few minutes. Just dont touch. Let it complete the process on its own.
    • The phone will reboot automatically once Android N installation is completed.

    That's it. Your Nexus 5X is now running on Android N Developer Preview.
