    Asus Zenfone 4 Review

Asus is the most reputed name when we talk about desktop and various other computing devices. Few year back Asus stepped in to smartphone world to challenge already set market leaders like Samsung and Apple. After successful run chase these years Asus has collected huge fan following around the globe and that’s the point of motivation for Asus to come up with different innovative ideas to fulfill users need. Asus banged the market with its latest Zenfone series and is continuing to threat the competitors. Asus has launched its diverse smartphone range to match all the price range with respect to the feature.

Asus is now all set to pull the trigger once again and is ready to capture entry-level market. Many companies tried to setup their existence in entry level market but 50% of them were only capable to do so. Asus is planning to extend its Zenfone series with the help of two new smartphones A400CG and A450CG, both are said to be the best in the segment but will dig out more deep to find whether this phone will prove itself the best or its just announcement made by Asus. We are going to review in each and every section of the A400CG in depth and pull out a verdict to calculate whether this phone will be a yes in this challenging market or falls in average rating.

    Design and Packaging:

If you are fed up with huge screen phone handling then there is good news for you. Asus has planned to come up with handy smartphone which is suitable for handling with one hand. Sleek and slender design of the phone is quite satisfying. Proportionate curvy body and rubbery back panel is smart design ergonomics planned by Asus, moreover Asus has wide range of color option for you to choose from, color like Charcoal Black, Pearl White, Cherry Red, Sky Blue, and Solar Yellow. Looks of the phone is simple with ample of bezel space on the sides of the display.

Coming to the hardware buttons arrangement on the smartphone, front of the phone is occupied with huge display at the centre and above space is allotted to earpiece and on the right side of the earpiece has front camera of the smartphone. Phone has proximity light sensor but it lacks ambient light sensors, which clearly means that auto-brightness feature will not be available in this smartphone. Below the display you can notice capacitive touch buttons of the phone and below this capacitive touch button Asus had provided a metal strip which is just to enhance the looks of the phone, rest it has no meaning.

Back of the phone is rubbery which provides good grip to hold this phone, centre back is packed with rear camera and below the camera lies branding of Asus. Speaker of the phone is arranged just besides rear camera. Coming to the sides of the phone we can see that right side is packed with power button as well as volume rocker button. Left side of the phone is given with microUSB slot which is capable to connect both charger and USB cable. Top of the phone has 3.5mm audio jack and a secondary microphone and below sides has microphone pin hole.

    Display / Screen:

When company brings price down the track, company compromises lot in its hardware and one of the hardware which is affected by price factor is display section. Asus Zenfone 4 has display of 4-inch with resolution of 800x 480 pixels. Pixel density of the display is not so impressive resulting in less responsive display in terms of colors and clarity.

Though the display has poor display properties but still Asus has managed its new flagship to provide with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Viewing angle suffers lot when phone has less pixel density and low resolution. As the phone lacks with ambient light sensors so brightness of the display is to be managed manually. Sun-legibility of the display suffers lot with the absence of sensors above the display.

    Camera Quality:

Asus Zenfone 4 has two cameras, one on the back and one on the front. Rear camera is powered with 5MP camera shooter and is able to capture good images. Front camera is capable to make video calls and video chat efficiently. Rear camera falls on average rating as we were able to capture normal images under bright light whereas on low light area we were disappointed to see the result.

Absence of the flash is major drawback in this new flagship by Asus. Video can be shot with the help of rear camera and it helps you to shoot HD video recording. UI of the camera is simple and has ample of settings to capture best shot every time. HDR, Panorama and other scene modes are the normal settings available to choose from.

    Hardware and Performance:

Most amazing part of the smartphone is its core strength and how reliable is the hardware specs of the smartphone to handle all the computing task. If hardware is capable of processing all the computing skills efficiently and smoothly then we can conclude that the hardware installed in smartphone is perfect. To make its flagship powerful and efficient Asus has come up with Intel Atom processor, we all know Intel Atom processors are very efficient and very fast in performing all the task whether it is multiprocessing or multitasking.

Zenfone 4 is given out with 1.2GHz, dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 chipset built on a 32nm HKM process. It also has 1GB RAM along with PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU to process graphic related instructions too. Asus lacks behind compare to other smartphones because each and every new smartphones are launched with atleast Quad-core processors but Asus Zenfone 4 is still running on two core processors. If you are more in to gaming then this phone will help you a lot, almost all the HD games are easily executed on Asus Zenfone 4. You may encounter some glitch and lag while playing some games but most of the games are easy to execute on this phone.

    Software and UI:

Real innovation is been observed in this section, Asus Zenfone 4 is running on new customized UI named Zen UI which sets apart this phone from other Android smartphones. Zen UI is so arranged that it enhances the average display of the phone by sharper homescreen and lockscreen. Zen UI has many things to show off, apps like camera, dialer and messaging can be included in launch apps all new What’s Next feature widget which shows upcoming appointments and events.

Fresh pre-loaded apps like pre-loaded apps like Do It Later, SuperNote, Splendid, WebStorage, AudioWizard, PartyLink Share Link Mirror and Omelet chat are also included in this smartphone. Phone has ample of storage to store all apps, internal memory of the phone is 8GB and further it can be extended up to 64GB.

    Battery Backup:

Asus Zenfone 4 falls behind when we talk about battery life of this smartphone. Asus has given 1,600mAh battery in its latest flagship which is very poor decision by Asus. On full charge it last just for 5-6 hours with optimum usage but if we use it heavily by operating games and browse internet for long hours estimated battery life will be reduced more. Asus has given power saver option mode but this also does not help to great extent.

    Re: Asus Zenfone 4 Review

Asus has launched this smartphone to breach the market of Moto E, who is ruling the entry level market. Asus tried the best but lacks with many points in various sections like display, battery and hardware specs. To beat the market of Moto E, Asus should have considered reliable hardware specs and display properties.

Camera of Zenfone 4 has autofocus feature which is absent in Moto E. Autofocus feature is only advanced feature present in Zenfone 4 compare to its rival. Price of the phone is tagged at 5,999 rupees which is very affordable compare to Moto E.
