    Acer Iconia A3 Tablet Review

    Introduction:

Tablet fever is back in the market and this is the only reasons that many companies are out now with effective remedies to cure the tablet fever. Some are out in the market with high price and some are launched with low price. Acer is one of the companies who is all set to release its new flagship in the market to serve the entry level market. Acer has promised that its new flagship will be more powerful and more reliable than its already launched devices. We know that Acer is good name in computers and laptop world but tablet section of Acer is not well renowned but it is quite accepting that Acer will not gamble with normal device to capture the market.

Tablet has become the necessity for most of the people as it carry out major function of day to day. Acer knows the users taste and preference and with regard to the change in taste, Acer has improved its specs and features a lot to match the user profile. With respect to the price of the tablet Acer has come up with Iconia A3 device with improved screen size and features, sleek and slender as much as possible and stuffed with powerful hardware specs to battle hard against its rivals. So let’s start with the review to find out whether the specs introduced by the Acer is truly impressive or again it is a just a specs on the paper.

    Design:

Design plays an important role for any device whether its smartphone or its tablet. Now tablet and smartphone are just status symbol so when you carry such sort of devices it states all. As the Acer is trying to grab entry level segment for tablet it is quite reasonable that body and design of the tablet will not be impressive compare to high-end segment tablet. Acer has made use of plastic body for its new flagship weighing 562g and measuring 10.2mm thick. Despite of plastic body with no use of metal in it still Acer’s new flagship is more than half kilogram. We can assume why it is weighing so much because almost all 10 inch tablet weighs in same range.

Budget tablet has simple and attractive design functionality, front of the device looks smooth with 10-inch display but tablet is to be handled landscape mode because alignment of the front camera and side buttons are placed in accordance to handling of the tablet. Wide display with no capacitive touch buttons below as it is included in the screen itself. Above the display has front camera of the tablet.

Back of the tablet is smooth finished with rear camera on the right side and branding of Acer in the front. Sides of the tablet are very busy with power button, Micro USB charging port, headphone jack and Mini HDMI socket and on other side you have volume rocker buttons. MicroUSB slot is too close to power key that it is very difficult to handle use power button while the tablet is on charge. Speaker of the tablet is placed in such place so that it can be easily covered with hands making hindrance for the sound output. Tablet supports Dolby digital so you can experience surround sound on your headphones.

Re: Acer Iconia A3 Tablet Review

    Display:

Acer Iconia A3 has huge display of 10-inch having resolution of 1,280x800 and is perfect for entry-level tablet segment. With such resolution you can experience wide viewing experience with clear and crisp output. Display introduced by Acer is using IPS technology to improve viewing experience as well as good color reproduction. IPS display is also well-known for its viewing angle features which we can notice in Acer Iconia A3.

As the pixel density of the display is average natural and pixel dense display go for toss. Sun-legibility is also average in this tablet as contrast ratio was just recorded to 781:1. Acer should have improved pixel density from 149ppi to atleast marginal pixel density to have proper color saturation as well as more clear output. Overall display of the Acer Iconia A3 is good but not the best.

    Hardware:

Iconia A3 has decent hardware specs which we are going to explore. Iconia A3 is running on Quad-core processor and justifying physical memory to carry out computing task efficiently. As the tablet falls in entry level segment it is quite obvious to imagine that chipset of the tablet will be powered by MediaTek. Specifications of the tablet are as follows quad-core 1.2GHz MediaTek MT8125T along with 1GB RAM and PowerVR SGX 544 GPU.

Performance of the phone is wholly carried out by four core processors and 1GB RAM, you can multi-task different apps or different tabs in browser all is handled in smooth and efficient manner. Web browsing on different tabs can slow down the performance of the tablet but it is quite obvious and common for all the tablets. GPU of the tablet is also impressive and is capable to handle intense graphic instruction fired by the user. Tablet has 16GB inbuilt storage and further it can be expanded through microSD card slot.

    Camera:

Tablet is given with front and rear camera to carry out all the function effectively. Rear camera is introduced with 5MP camera whereas front camera is just VGA. Rear camera is good when operated in bright light condition but when this tablet is used for capturing images in low-light condition it disappoints.

Outdoor shooting comes very good filled with colors and seems natural too but absence of flash can be seen when tablet is used in dark light conditions. Camera UI is same for all MediaTek powered devices so nothing new included in camera UI other than basic features for camera setting. Front camera of the device is 0.3MP and is capable of making video calls and video chat.

    Software:

Iconia A3 is running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and this is the major drawback of the tablet as we were expecting that Acer will drive the market with the help of latest Android OS but fails to manage it. May be Acer promises to provide mandatory update for its device but it is quite difficult because device is running on Android 4.2.2 and now the current version running on the most of the devices are Android 4.4.2 so let’s hope that Acer finds some solution for updating its device.

    Battery:

Acer has done a real good job by providing its flagship with so powerful battery backup which is never seen before in any entry level tablet. 7300mAh battery is kind of giant specification for entry level devices; you can perform longer operations like watching movie, playing games or creating presentation or other activities on your tablet. Battery section of Acer Iconia A3 is just amazing.

Re: Acer Iconia A3 Tablet Review

    Conclusion:

Acer Iconia A3 is good entry level tablet having good features in hardware specs and battery section. Display and design of the tablet falls in average section and is quite accepting that with respect to the price of the tablet body and display is crafted smartly. Dolby digital sound feature is plus one point for Acer whereas arrangement of the hardware buttons on the tablet is little messy.

In just £200 you won’t find such powerful and impressive tablet in the market but compare to Lenovo’s Yoga device and Asus device, Acer is falling back in the race. We can say that you won’t be disappointed with Acer Iconia A3 as it is featured well and deserve to be value for money.
