Nokia took big leap this year by thinking out of box and presenting the world with new revolution in smartphones. Nokia came with three super smartphones Nokia X, X+ and XL who were installed with innovative OS called Nokia X platform which can run almost all Android apps in it. Now Nokia lovers can make use of any android apps in their smartphones and show off in front of Android users. Nokia has already released its Nokia X, X+ and Nokia XL smartphones in the market and they have achieved great response from the users globally.

Now Nokia has come up with a successor of Xl named Nokia XL Dual SIM. As its name suggest, it is a Dual SIM Variant of earlier XL with better hardware and specifications. Let’s dig out every part and parcel of this phone to review whether this smartphone will create tough competition to same priced Android smartphones in the market. But before that, let's have a quick look at its highlights:

    • Nokia X 2.0 Software Platform based on Android Jellybean
    • Dual SIM
    • 5 inch WVGA touch screen display
    • 480 800 pixels resolution
    • 1GHz dualcore Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play
    • 768MB of RAM
    • External memory upto 32GB
    • 5 Megapixel rear camera with auto focus and Flash
    • 2 Megapixel front camera
    • 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS
    • 2000mAh battery

    Build and Design:

Nokia phones have good form and factor for its flagship and so this phone will also hold good build quality. Phone at a glance will revise you with the look of Nokia Lumia series, as you will find that phone has vibrant and bright colours. Nokia XL is 5 inch display which means phone is big with the dimensions of 141.4 x 77.7 x 10.9 mm and 109 cc (5.57 x 3.06 x 0.43 in). As per the dimension you can make an image how phone shape will look like. Most of the 5 inch phone of Nokia and Nokia Lumia series has same body structure of rectangular shape; same with Nokia XL also it is big rectangular phone with huge black screen on front. Phone comes with Dual-SIM feature and both the SIM should be GSM only, no CDMA support for Nokia XL.

Nokia XL feels good in hand and doesn’t look cheap material type. Body of Nokia XL is full plastic but plastic is of good quality instead of shiny found in most of the mid-range phone. From the front view you will notice that above screen there is camera, sensor and ear-piece. Bottom of the screen has one home button which is common in Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. Back of the phone has written with Nokia trademark and above that is arranged with 5MP camera and flash. Below of the Nokia trademark there lays speaker of the phone. Below of the phone has USB or charging connector slot and microphone pinhole. Above the phone has 3.5mm audio jack for headphones. Left bezel of the phone has nothing but right side bezel has power on/off button and volume control button.

Nokia XL is mid-range phone segment and according to that display features has been offered to phone. Nokia has come up with huge screen phone at lesser price which will create boom in the sale of this phone. 5-incher Nokia XL has display technology of IPS LCD touchscreen with resolution of 480x800 pixels. Phone has vibrant and average display, thanks to IPS LCD screen. Phone has better viewing angle and touch is very good in response.

Display of the phone is multi-touch screen but has limit of using only two-fingers, which means more than two fingers will not be recognised on Nokia XL. WVGA resolution screen has 187ppi which means the screen is huge in size but pixel density is very low making the phone looks more in cheaper side.

Nokia has not provided any screen protection like Gorilla Glass or Scratch resistant feature, you will have to take care that phone is handled carefully and smoothly else it will result with scratch on your display. Viewing angle is the most important feature of display, thanks to IPS LCD technology used in Nokia XL which made this phone’s display look good from different angle with very little visible colour washout.

Re: Nokia XL Dual SIM Review

Hard work of Nokia developers had finally showed its colour. With the announcement of new Nokia X platform 1.0 which is ready to tackle almost all Android apps, Nokia lovers was very enchanted with the news. Rumours was already spread that Nokia will make OS which is compatible with Android apps but at MWC 2014 Official spoke person made this news confirmed that Nokia will launch new device which will have unique OS that can run most of the Android apps in it.

Nokia’s Unique Nokia Fastlane experience is the interface which will allow you to have smooth access to all your Android apps installed on your phone. Along with UI, you will have One Drive to save all your data. Microsoft and Nokia has developed OS which will run Android apps but this apps is not official Google project and this is the reason that Nokia will still use Microsoft’s virtual cloud storage.

    Hardware specs and Performance:

Nokia has carefully looked out in hardware part necessary for operating OS and other processing instruction given by user. Though the phone is targeted for mid-range segment but the hardware arranged on this phone is really good. Hardware and other features are fixed with respect to the price of the phone but you will observe that Nokia has come out with best hardware for mid-range segment phone. A good phone is said to be good when it is gathered with superior chipset, processor and RAM and performance of the phone solely depends on these hardware only.

Nokia XL is rich with hardware resources as you will see that Nokia has installed Snapdragon S4 Play chipset which consist of Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A5 processor for handling multiprocessing task on your phone. RAM of 768MB making multitasking on the phone very easy and GPU of Adreno 203 will look out for all graphic related instruction like HD movies and HD games installed on your phone. With so complex hardware phone will definitely perform good even if you are working on different process or working on many tabs on browser, work will be accomplished very fast and efficiently without any stutter or lags.

Phone’s USP is camera, better the camera more is the demand for that phone and price of that phone also rises with the megapixels of camera. Camera phone was started with VGA resolution and that was very powerful camera in phones but now Nokia has reached to 41MP camera in its Lumia series and Sony provides camera of 20.7MP in its flagship.

Nokia XL is offered with 5MP camera with LED flash which means you can click great picture not only in day light but also in dark or low light. Camera can shoot video at 480p resolution which is quite normal in mid-range segment. Nokia XL has front camera which can be used for video calling and video chat, 2MP camera on front is quite enough for video call. Camera has good features like panorama, ’ camera sensor and face detection to make perfect image every time.

2000 mAh battery is installed in Nokia XL and is enough to look out all the hardware fixed in this phone. Nokia XL is only phone in series which has so powerful battery backup. Nokia XL has good display, powerful processor, RAM and GPU which makes phone to utilize more battery and so Nokia had installed 2000mAh battery. Multiprocessing and Multitasking makes phone to utilize more power and data connection of the phone consumes more battery. Battery fixed in the phone will serve your phone for more than 13hours in 3G network and for more than 16hours in 2G network.

Re: Nokia XL Dual SIM Review

Nokia XL is good smartphone launched by Nokia but if we check out the competition in the market then you will realize that Nokia is far behind the race because most of the Android powered smartphones are operating on Quad-core processors and 1GB RAM but Nokia is stuck with Dual-core processors and 768MB RAM. Nokia has provided average display which should have been more advanced.

Camera of 5MP is good on day light but when you click images on dark or low light then you will notice noisy image. Battery of phone is good with good backup. Performance of the phone is really good and Nokia X series Unique Nokia Fastlane Experience will be new craze in the market.
