    Swipe Konnect 5.0 Review

Swipe has initiated the market with its upcoming smartphone; company is all set to release its first smartphone with super smart features at very affordable price. Every one knows how tense the competition is for entry level smartphones; all well established and reputed company has started targeting for entry level smartphones. All emerging companies like Karbonn, Micromax, Spice and many more struggling to outclass each other in the market. In so competitive market Swipe is trying to base its ground. It will take much effort from Swipe to breach the entry level market and turn the attention of the world towards itself.

Swipe’s first smartphone is priced smartly with good body design and light weight features. Swipe has followed ongoing trend of 5-inch display for its smartphone but whether the features and hardware introduced in the smartphone is enough or has made extra ordinary performance will discover in this review and make a note that will this phone struggling or will be praised by critics and users. Before getting into the test, let's have a quick look at Konnect 5.0 highlights:

    • Android 4.2 JellyBean Operating System
    • Dual SIM
    • 5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touch screen display
    • 960 540 pixels resolution
    • 1.3 GHz quad-core processor
    • 1GB of RAM
    • 8 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash
    • 3.2 Megapixel front-facing camera
    • 8GB internal memory, expandable upto 32GB using microSD Card
    • 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS
    • 1950 mAh battery

Low budget phones should not be considered in terms of design and build factor because no company can provide super build and design for smartphones in budget less than 10K. Swipe Konnect 5.0 falls in budget phone segment so design part of this phone will be little fizzy. Though with respect to price Swipe has armored its flagship with good body design, structure of the phone will remind you of Micromax Canvas 2 HD as it has same protruding camera with sleek design and bottom of the phone tapering inwards.

Swipe is claiming that its flagship is lightest phone in the market with weight of just 135 grams, usually low budget phones are heavier but Swipe Konnect 5.0 is exception. Design of the phone might give you a boring look but when you hold the phone in your palm it will give you different feeling than what it looks alike. Back of the phone is covered with rubbery plastic, allows itself to fit properly in your hands and gives good feel of holding a smartphone. Swipe has sensibly carved the body of its smartphone with sloping edges which gives phone more slimmer look than actually it is.

Front face of the phone is simple with huge display, capacitive buttons, front camera, ear piece and sensors. Swipe Konnect 5.0 features 5-inch display and below the display has capacitive touch buttons which are only visible when glowing. Upper side of screen is occupied with essential hardware like earpiece, front camera and sensors. Back of the phone is rubbery plastic with protruding camera at the top centre of the back and right side of the camera is given with flash. Swipe logo falls below the camera and branding of Konnect 5.0 at bottom of the phone above the speaker of the phone. Camera is inspired by HTC One X with close flash to it. Sides of the phone are sloping curved edges allowing the phone to have slimmer look.

Left side of the phone is given by volume rocker buttons and right side just has power On/Off button. Hardware buttons are so tight and does not allow it to be easily handled. Curved edges of the phone makes hardware button to hide in them and is very difficult to find and operate those hardware buttons. Upper side of the phone has 3.5mm audio jack for earphone insertion and microUSB port for charging and USB connection. Bottom of the phone just has microphone pinhole for voice input.

Smartphones are in trend with big screens so why should Swipe fall behind with markets ongoing trend. Display is given with 5-inch screen with resolution of qHD with 240ppi density, most low-end budget phones are excluded with good and vibrant display features but Swipe has made use of IPS technology for display to handle the output, producing good color reproduction and viewing angle. Display is not protected by Gorilla glass nor by some scratch resistant glass, display of the phone is normal and is prone to get scratched.

Brightness and contrast of the phone is good but sun-legibility of the phone is below average. Surely no one would expect AMOLED display or Super LCD display for phone having low price tagged. Even the rivals who are dwelling with low-end segment phones have not introduced hi-tech display features. With respect to the price tagged to this phone display features are amazing and give good touch response.

    Re: Swipe Konnect 5.0 Review

Software or OS is another let down factor in this phone because latest Android phone launched in the market is prevailing with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS but Swipe Konnect 5.0 is still stuck with Android 4.2.2 Jellybean. If Swipe would have installed Android 4.3 Jellybean still we can consider this phone as good competitor and may have assumed that Swipe will produce OTA update for its flagship but now Swipe has long way to go to catch up the competition. Interface is smooth and is similar to all phones which are powered by MediaTek chipset. There are many third party apps associated with this phone like English Dictionary, Next Contact Widget, My City Guide, Next Launcher 3D, SuperBeam, Temple Run 2, Delicious Recipes, WhatsApp and many more.

    Hardware and Performance:

Swipe Konnect 5.0 posses dual-SIM functionality with one SIM slot is for regular SIM and other slot is for micro SIM. If you have micro SIM then you can make use of one slot and if you have regular SIM then you can use other slot. Internal memory of the phone is 8GB and can be further expanded with the help of microSD card. Out of 8GB you can access only a portion of the memory allotted by the company.

Phone is running on super fast four core processor and huge physical memory to give you efficient and smooth operations on this phone. As phone falls under entry level segment it is quite obvious that chipset of this phone will be powered by MediaTek. Heart of the phone is powered by 1.3 GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor and 1GB RAM along with Mali-400 MP GPU. Four core processor and 1GB RAM is enough to handle all your computing instructions and that too with great pace and consistent. Gamers will go crazy as this phone is capable of handling HD games without glitch and lags. So overall the performance of the phone due to serious hardware is good.

Swipe Konnect 5.0 is flaunting around with its 8MP camera with flash. 8MP camera lens clicks good images with the help of OmniVision sensor. With regard to 8MP sensor images do not turn out enchanting and clear. Day light image comes little bright and clear but as the light goes dim images turns very noisy, even the evening shots comes very noisy. If you wish to capture images at dark place then you will be disappointed as picture turn out shady and dark even if operated with use of flash.

Interface of the camera is simple found in most of the MediaTek powered phones. Settings menu for scene mode, color effect, white balance, time lapse interval and many more are introduced in the interface. Front camera is powered with 3.2MP sensor but when 8MP camera fails to deliver the best so we do not expect much with front camera. Videos shot with this phone produces average clarity which no one would like to see in recent launched phone. Overall camera is let down factor in this phone may be with an update Swipe can fix something on camera section.

To handle all the stuff of the phone it is powered by 1,950mAh battery strength to serve the phone all day long. Does this phone battery is good enough that it can handle all day long stress triggered by the users? Answer to this question is yes, Swipe Konnect 5.0 is capable of holding you back for long hours. Watch movies, do work or browse it will last for 7-8 hours and if you are average user then it will definitely last for more than 12 hours. So as per the battery is concern, Swipe has done good job.

Phone will fall in average section as there are many points which will come under consideration while grading this phone. Display and design of the phone is good and you cannot expect more from entry level phones. Hardware installed to perform core activities is perfect but problem arise in camera section and OS section. Phone is lacking far behind in both this section and this will drag this phone to bottom of the ratings. Overall phone is good and can be considered to be a good competent for the rivals in the market.
