Installing Android 4.4.2 Kitkat in Samsung Galaxy ACE 2

Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 has got the latest ndroid 4.4.2 Kitkat update with the help of Custom ROM. We are going to use a manual way of installing the update. Remember that this process includes flashing of the rom. And it is very important that you do it with patient and with all proper steps mention below. If you do it wrong your device can brick. We are going to install Android 4.4.2 Kitkat custom rom on Samsung Galaxy ACE 2. This can cause warranty issue. There is a tiny thing you can do. You can root your phone and backup your existing rom. You can run nandroid backup. IF somehow you are not happy with the Kitkat update or if something happens while installation you can restore the old rom back. And if you had already rooted your phone then things more easy. Also after adding the rom the factory status are not going to be restored. Rooting is needed to for installing the rom.

We are going to install CyanogenMod 11 Firmware Package on this device. Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 was released with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Operating system. And this device has hardly got a update. But thanks to CyanogenMod 11 we are able to get the latest kitkat on the same. Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 has a 800MHz Dual Core Processor and 768MB RAM which is enough to run this kitkat rom. So let's move ahead with the process.

    Requirements:

    • Start with backup. I had told you before. It is good if you can backup your existing rom. So that if there is any issue you can restore that backup. You can do that through custom recovery or nandroid. Also backup your data.
    • Charge your phone to maximum before moving ahead. There must be more than 75% of battery in your phone.
    • Download and install latest Samsung USB Drivers on your computer
    • Enable usb debugging by going in Settings and then tap on application. Then tap on development. Just enable this.
    • The process requires a rooted Samsung Galaxy ACE 2. Without that things are not going to work. It is very important to root or else the process will fail.
    • Download CyanogenMod Mod 11 Firmware Package
    • Download Google Apps Package
    • SD Card with more than 2GB of free space.

    Upgrading Process:

    • Connect Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 to your pc and then copy CyanogenMod Mod 11 Firmware Package and Google Apps Package in the sd card of the device.
    • You have to root your phone and install custom recovery. So that we can flash the rom.
    • If you had already done that then switch off the phone and then boot it in recovery mode. You can do that by holding Home + Power + Volume Up buttons. From recovery mode you have to use the volume key to navigate.
    • But if someone the device fails to start in recovery mode then you can still restart that through ROM Manager app.
    • From the recovery mode choose clear data first. Then choose wipe cache.
    • Once done you have to choose install from sd card.
    • Navigate to the location where you had copied the firmware package.
    • Select the CyanogenMod Mod 11 Firmware Package first. The process will start and will take some time. Sit back.
    • The next thing you have to do is install Google Apps Package.
    • Once everything is installed just restart your phone and enjoy the new kitkat rom.
