How to update Nexus 4 to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat

Today I am going to show you how you can update Android Kitkat 4.4.4 on Nexus 4 device. The device comes loaded with Android OS, v4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and as per its official configuration you can still upgrade the same to Android v4.4.2 KitKat. If you had not got the update then you can do that manually also. I am going to give you show you the way for the same. This is the official stock rom which is released for the phone. But there are many who did not received the same.

We are going to add Android 4.4.4 KTU84P Factory Image on the same. This is a official method which does not cause any warranty void issue. You can just simply add this and get the updated firmware on your phone. The device features Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon chipset. This brings out the compatible of Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait and 2GB ram. It has a 5inch True HD IPS Plus capacitive touch screen that offer amazing display.

In order to install the android operating system you have to configure fast boot in your system. So lest move ahead with the same. There are few things you have to consider before going ahead. Like if you simply install the Android 4.4 Os you can't revert back to the old image. If you want to restore the old one then you will have to root your phone and back stock rom. And later on you can flash the phone with this factory kitkat rom.

    • It is very important that you must backup your phone data before moving ahead. Do not flash the rom if you are not copying the data in your pc. Because you are going to loose everything during this process.
    • Charge your phone to maximum. There must be more than 60% of battery left in the phone.
    • Go in your setting and tap on development. Enable usb debugging. Connect the phone to pc to check that usb drivers are installed in your system. If not update the same.
    • Install android sdk in your system. You have to download that and extract the content in a folder.
    • Download Android 4.4.4 KTU84P Factory Image
    • You will need a micro sd card with more than 2GB of free space.

    Installation Process:

    • Connect your nexus device to your pc through original usb cable.
    • Just check that usb debugging is enabled. It is very important that nexus 4 usb must be installed in your system.
    • We have to now restart the phone in fastboot mode. For that switch off the phone and then turn it on and hold the volume up + volume down + power button at the same time. The device will start in recovery mode.
    • Extract the zip file of kitkat image on your desktop in a folder. You have to locate occam-KTU84P. Just copy the file of this folder and move them in the fastboot folder which is platform-tools folder of Android SDK folder.
    • Once done run flash-all.bat for Windows pc. And if you are doing this on Mac or Linux then run That's it. The process will start. The kitkat rom will be flashed on your system and the phone will reboot.
