Rooting and installing Custom Recovery on HTC One M8

HTC One M8 is a recently launched high end smartphone from HTC that comes loaded with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. The phone offers you amazing 5inch Super LCD3 Touchscreen. You can get a full HD 1920x1080 pixel resolution which makes your video viewing experience awesome. The screen is also protected with Gorilla Glass 3 cover. No need to worry much if anything fell on the display. Glass on the top is capable of bearing shock and scratches. The device is loaded with Sense UI v6 which is more fluid. The hardware configuration makes it a very powerful device. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. That has a 2.3Ghz Quad core processor for running various apps and the latest Adreno 330 GPU for hd gaming.

In this article I am going to show you how you can root this device. You can install custom recovery and have several benefits. After adding this custom recovery you have option to clean up the device by removing pre-installing apps. This are bloatware which are sticked and occupy space. Custom recovery will also help you to improve the battery life by blocking apps that are constantly running in the background. Through different tweaks you can increase the phone output more.

So let's move ahead with the rooting stuff. Remember that this must be done on your own risk. Rooting cause warranty issue also. Before starting the actual installation process, there are some requirements you must meet to do it successfully and they are as follows:

    • Rooting will lose warranty. So go ahead with your own decision.
    • Improper methods can cause brick device. Collect all the files and note the method properly before moving ahead.
    • After this the device will no longer receive official updates.
    • Charge your phone to maximum. There must be more than 80% of battery in it because the phone should not get drained out during this process.
    • The procedure is tested and work for HTC M8 device. Do not attempt to use this methods and use files on any other HTC Phone.
    • You have to install ADB/Fastboot on your system before moving ahead. This is a very important procedure.
    • Backup the entire phone data for safer side. You can use HTC Sync for that.
    • Go in Settings > Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
    • Check that your computer has the latest HTC One Drivers.
    • Go on official website of HTC and get your phone bootloader unlocked. Or else the process will fail. You can check the step by step process of unlocking bootloader here.

    Step 1:

    • Move TWRP folder in the fastboot folder of your pc.
    • Enter phone settings where you have to go in Power options and turn off Fastboot. Also switch off the phone after that.
    • Hold Volume down + Power to get on HBoot. Choose Fastbook.
    • Connect the phone to your pc with original HTC cable and go in the Fastboot folder.
    • Right click on the fastboot folder and choose open in cmd. Type fastboot erase cache and hit enter. Then again type fastboot flash recovery twrp-m8.img hit enter. The last command you have to pass is fastboot reboot.

That's it. You had installed TWRP recovery.
