Installing Custom Recovery In LG G Flex

As we know Rooting is very important for all android smartphones if you really want to be the Administrator of your device, we saw how to successfully Root LG G Flex earlier. Talking about this phone, it is quite powerful and worlds first curved Oled display phablet. As per its highlights, G Flex has a 6-inch HD Curved Plastic OLED display, 2.26 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor with 2GB LP DDR3 RAM, 13 Megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and 2.1 Megapixel front camera. Obviously at such powerful device you will love to get more. But is Rooting enough for the same?

The answer is No. As you know LG G Flex was launched Android 4.2 Jellybean operating while we are in the era of Kitkat. So, you might want to get Kitkat (at present) with Custom ROMs. So, to install the custom rom you must have Custom recovery installed on your LG G Flex. Do you know how to do that? If no, here is the answer.

We will today flash Custom Recovery in G Flex, obviously, with the simplest method. Here are few things you need to take care before installing recovery.

    • Before carrying out any such process, you must Backup all your important data from the device, for safer side.
    • Charge the phone's battery upto atleast 60% so that it wont get drained during the process.
    • Make sure your LG G Flex is already rooted. If not, do it now following the guide link provided above.
    • Enable USB Debugging from the phone's settings.
    • Now download LG G Flex USB Drivers and install them on your computer.
    • Download TWRP Recovery from here and save it on your pc desktop.
    • Go to Google Play store from your phone and install Terminal Emulator.

Flashing Custom Recovery in LG G Flex:

    • Make sure you have installed the USB Drivers on your computer.
    • Connect the G Flex to the computer using USB cable
    • Copy the downloaded TWRP Recovery Image to your phone's SD Card's root folder so that it can be accessed easily.
    • Now open recently installed Terminal Emulator on your phone.
    • Run the following command in the terminal:
      su dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
(Make sure to rename the "recoveryfilename.img" with the name of downloaded recovery file)
    • Now wait and let the process go comfortably.

Once it is done, your LG G Flex is now running Custom Recovery. You can install any compatible Custom Rom on your smartphone.
