The Lumia 1520 which was launched at the same time features a 6inch screen too, however it very powerful and almost twice the cost of Lumia 1320. Display / Screen:

The Lumia 1320 displays a huge 6 inch LCD display with screen resolution of 1280◊720 pixels. The size of the display is really cool but it clarity is not impressive. It has just 245ppi due to which the colors don’t look very bright and sharp; also text look slightly blurred. Considering the price of the device I wouldn’t say it’s disappointing, it’s not very impressive either. The whites look brighter; however there are issues with black color which looks slightly greyish. Though it’s a LCD screen, the viewing angle was average. I viewed a few photos from different angle; colors looked slightly different when you look it from sides.

This phone is supported by 1.7Ghz dual core Snapdragon 400 processor which is good but not the best. While most of the new handset are processed by quad core and octa-core processor, a bit more was expected. Never mind, the phone has a good performance and no issues were found in the interface. Due to animations launching apps are slightly delayed however multitasking is smooth. As it comes with a 1GB RAM support the performance was consistent. The phone supports Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and DLNA with Wi-Fi and GPS. Improvements were made in the connectivity so now the connections are much stronger. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections didn’t drop much and I didn’t find much issues.

The speaker output is good and the as there are small nubs around the speaker, space is left between the floor and speaker so that the output is clear and loud. The phone has only 8GB internal storage of which almost 2GB is taken by system which leaves very little space for downloading games and other stuffs. However, you can expand the memory using micro SD card up to 64GB. Low internal memory does affect the performance of the phone so it’s recommended to have a good micro SD card and use less space in internal memory.

The Lumia 1320 runs on the latest window 8 with update 3 with the Nokia’s Lumia Black firmware preinstalled in it. If you have already used a windows 8 phone then there are not many differences you would spot in this. It has the Microsoft office where you can save and edit your files. The phone has Xbox games supporting Xbox live which is one big attraction to the gamers. It supports Bing search which gives really quick results than before and has other Lumia apps like Here Maps, Here drive etc. this phone provides option for a good number of camera apps and other apps like LinkedIn, MoliPlayer etc. the phone has a very sensitive touch so you can even surf using gloves very smoothly.

The user interface is slightly improved in the updates. Now there user can close apps through the multitasking menu itself, also there are now additional column of tiles in the home screen which provides much easier accessibility. You can now easily clean up the temporary files and free the storage memories from the settings option also view the detailed category wise division that shows which app is consuming space of your phone.

User can control screen orientation and also manage the incoming calls during driving by putting it in the driving mode. Connectivity options are improved, now users can simply browse through the internet by using the data connection of your phone on Microsoft 8.1 device via Bluetooth. General improvements in the Connection quality of Bluetooth have been made. Assigning custom ringtone is now possible in the Lumia device. So overall there are some really good improvements in the software that was pretty much needed.

Re: Nokia Lumia 1320 Smartphone Review

The Lumia 1320 has a 5MP camera with LED flash and a front 0.3MP VGA camera. Not much can be expected from the VGA camera. You cannot really use it for self-portrait because it doesnít give a clear output, however it is good enough for video chat. The 5MP camera supports video shooting at 1080p which is really good. Video playback is very smooth with bright colors and loud voice. Images are bright and colorful under good conditions and also you can use the camera apps to enhance your images.

Selecting the auto option under the white balance is not much of use as you have to adjust it according to the lighting conditions. Bright light photos were gorgeous and sharp, no complaints really. Under low light you are going to be slightly disappointed as the F2.4 aperture is not very effective under low light. Indoor photos with flash are good but focusing takes a bit time. You can control you photos by adjusting setting of camera which has options like night mode, portrait mode, ISO settings, aspect ratio and focus assist light.

    Battery Life:

As said earlier, battery is pretty strong and there wonít be any disappointment here. The Lumia 1320 packs in a 3400mAh non removable battery. It stays charged for around 12hrs under normal conditions like few hours of call, music playback and photography. Heavy gaming does consumes a lot of battery so you need to be careful about that. The battery life depends on the way you use it, on an average the phone should last for a day without much problem.

The battery saver option is good one that can be turned on. It would put off your battery consuming apps like Wi-Fi and other connectivity, when the battery is low. So it would help you to stretch your battery life.

Nokia Lumia 1320 has a huge 6 inch display and is offered at a low cost compared to the other device in the same league. As far as performance is concerned, dual core processor offers good performance and 1GB RAM has fast multitasking capability too. Compared to the Lumia smartphones a good number of features have been added and updated in this device.

The UI is good and there is huge number of preloaded apps in the device already. The Lumia store is added with a variety of apps now to meet the requirements of all users. I see a lot of improvements in the new update that was very much required. Overall Lumia 1320 is a good one for those looking for a huge display and good battery life.

    • Great build quality
    • Performance
    • Reasonable Price

    • Over-sized and Heavy
    • Limited internal memory
    • Average display
    • Average Camera
