    How to Update Nexus 7 to Android 4.4.1 Kitkat

    As we know Android 4.4.1 Kitkat is already available for few Nexus devices, the 2013 version of Nexus 7 tablet is still waiting to get kitkat. So today, i though to share step by step process of installing Android 4.4.1 Kitkat on your Nexus 7 tablet. Just go through the step by step process provided below.

    But before going to installation process, there are few important requirements which we need to meet in order to complete the process successfully. If not then, either we wont be able to install or the device may get bricked.


    • Before beginning any device, backing up the data, contacts, calenders etc. is essential.
    • Enable USB Debugging
    • Before installing any apps on the device, it is necessary that the battery has to be 60% charged for avoiding power interruption during installation.
    • Download USB Drivers for your Nexus 7 and install it on your computer.
    • Download the Nexus 7 Android 4.4.1 ROM Package in the computer and rename it as

    Installation Process:

    • Start by connecting your Tablet to the computer where USB drivers are installed and copy the Rom package to your SD Card's root folder.
    • Now disconnect the cable and turn off your device
    • Now Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons together for few secongs until you get the Fastboot menu.
    • Here select Recovery / Bootloader mode
    • Using your Volume rockers scroll Up and down until you see RECOVERY option. Select it by pressing Power key.
    • Now you must see an exclamation mark, now press Volume Up and Power buttons ro enter Recovery Mode menu.
    • Once on Recovery screen scroll using Volume down key and select 'update from SD card' option.
    • Now browse and select the file to install.
    • Once done, go back to the main recovery screen and select Reboot System Now on the top.

    That's it. Your Tablet will reboot and your done.
