Update HTC One to Android 4.4 Kitkat with AOSP Custom ROM

HTC One is a high end Smartphone powered by great hardware configuration and amazing performance. This is an amazing product which is awesome in terms of performance output. The phone already comes with the new Jellybean OS and soon we are going to get the Android 4.4 OS update in coming month. But if you want you can go ahead with the Android 4.4 AOSP Custom Rom setup. This is a custom rom that provides you full stock rom features of Android 4.4 OS. After installing this one you will get the stock android features. You won’t get the optimized features.

This rom is tested on HTC One. It worked really well. There are certain points which you have to take care before moving ahead. Like this process requires rooting first. You have to gain full access on the internal rom. If the rom is locked then you won’t be able to add the new OS on the same. Rooting voids the warranty. So do this on your own risk. After rooting I will recommend you to backup the internal rom through a powerful app like Titanium Pro. So in case if you have issue or if you don't really like the rom then you can restore it back through the backup tool.

    • Ensure that there is maximum battery left in your phone. Don't go ahead with the process if battery is low. This can cause issue.
    • Before moving ahead check that your device is rooted or not. If not then root it and install CWM Recovery on the same.
    • Enable USB Debugging before moving ahead from Settings > Development.
    • Backup your phone completely. Ensure that you had backup everything.
    • Download AOSP Custom ROM for HTC One.
    • Download GAPPS

    Installation Process:

    • Connect the phone to your pc through the original usb cable. If usb drivers are installed the phone will be detected and you will get access to internal storage. Copy AOSP Custom ROM & GAPPS in it.
    • Restart the phone in recovery mode. You can do that by pressing the volume down + power button at the time of turning phone on. The device will boot in recovery mode. You can here use the volume keys to navigate.
    • One by one go first for full data wipe. Choose Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Wait back until the process is completed.
    • Now go in Advance and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache.
    • Once everything is over then choose install from Zip card.
    • Select the AOSP Custom ROM and wait back. Follow the screen instructions. The rom will install and it will take some time to complete the process.
    • Once the process is over then restart your phone.
