How to install Android 4.4 Kitkat in Nexus 7 2012

We have two variants in Nexus 7 which includes one 2012 version and second the recently released 2013 version. Today we are going to see how we can update the 2012 version to latest Android 4.4 Kitkat. By the default Nexus 7 2012 variant comes with Android 4.1 Jellybean and has pretty good specs such as 7 Inch 1280 x 800 HD Display, 8GB built-in Memory, Tegra 3 Quad Core Processor With 12 Core GPU, 1GB of RAM and 4325 mAh Battery. Now although Google has rolled out the 4.4 Kitkat update for few of their Nexus devices, the 2012 variant is still waiting for the same. But if you are having a Nexus 7 2012 and want to experience the amazing Kitkat OS, you dont need to wait any more. Here is the manual method of updating your tablet to the latest Android 4.4 kitkat in just few minutes.

Before going to the actual installation method, there are few pre-requirements you need to go through, which are as follows:

    • Backup your entire tablet including its contacts, files, etc.
    • Download the Android 4.4 Kitkat firmware package on your desktop.
    • Make sure the tablet has atleast 70% of the battery charged. It should not get drained during the installation process.
