How to update HTC One X+ to Android 4.4 Kitkat using Pure AOSP Custom ROM

You can now update Android 4.4 OS on HTC One X+ through Pure AOSP Custom ROM. This is because of a unofficial Android 4.4 kitkat update which was released recently for devices like Nexus,LG Optimus G and HTC One. This update offer them the latest Android features. Remember that this is a custom process which is not officially supported by the manufacturer. Once you install this your phone is out of warranty. So do this on your own risk.

AOSP ROM features a simple android OS also called as the stock rom. This rom just comes loaded with all new features that the official Android 4.4 Kitkat is giving you. Here you are not having a optimized version. You had seen in HTC One X+ the OS is optimized to work with HTC Sense UI and additional features. This things are removed in the AOSP rom. The process is tested and works nicely on HTC One X+. For those who are doing this for the first time it is necessary to root their phone and go ahead with full rom backup. The rom is tested and works well, but not completely stable. Some features might not work.

    • Ensure that your phone has maximum battery left. It must be higher than 80%.
    • Enable USB Debugging. Go to Settings > Manage Applications > Development > USB Debugging.
    • Download the original HTC USB drivers and install them in your system.
    • To install this rom you will have to root your phone and use CWM Recovery.
    • Once the device is rooted take a full backup of your phone data. You can also backup the internal rom which can be restored in case of problem.
    • Download AOSP ROM
    • There must be more than 500GB of space left on your SD card.

    Installation Process:

    • Copy AOSP ROM in the memory card.
    • Turn off the mobile phone first. Then reboot it in CWM Recovery. You can do that by holding the power button + volume up. The phone will boot in recovery mode.
    • The first thing you have to do is run a full data wipe. You will find two options Wipe Data or Factory Reset. Choose anyone one from this.
    • Then run wipe cache partition.
    • At the end run Wipe Dalvik Cache.
    • Now go to Install from SD Card. Navigate using the volume keys and choose the rom which is copied in the external memory card.
    • Select it. The installation will begin. The process will take some time and finally the rom will get installed in your phone.
    • Once it is over reboot your phone and done.
    • You can now enjoy the latest Android OS on your phone.
