Is Samsung Galaxy Note 3 region-locked in India

Certain news says that the new Galaxy Note 3 will be region locked. They will work on local sim only. I tried to find the international version on web, but it looks to be missing. This would be a problem. A number of time people buy the device from international market. Being an unlocked device it works well at any place. But here region lock device is complicated. If you unlock it you have to pay higher and it also hampers the warranty.

What about India. Is there any clear information available. Does the model which Samsung is selling right now comes region lock?

It is true that Note 3 will be region locked. Samsung is soon planning to release the device in various countries. They had divided certain zones. Like the European, US And Asia.

The European version is out. But it has a network lock. That means if you buy this device for any European company You cannot use it in US or Asia. So it is better to wait back until you get any final confirmation of globally unlock model. It is also complicated for traveler to get local sim.

This is really weird. I do not understand why Samsung is selling a region lock device. They can sell a unlock model. It is easier for people to use it wherever they go.

For your information, only US and EU version of Galaxy Note 3 will be region locked and rest of the world will get the unlocked device. Have a look at this:

This would create complications. Galaxy Note 3 is an amazing device. Those who travel in different countries will face problem in using it. Because they cross the border their device will stop working. I had seen certain leaked images on the web which shows a European locked model. On the box it was clearly mention where the device is going to work. For Asian region till yet nothing is defined. We can see the device sold by popular shopping website. But in that they never mention whether this device is region locked or not. For those who are going to use the device in their country will not create a problem. But for travelers this is a pain.
