Blackberry Z10 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Comparison

Samsung has provided us several amazing smartphones, Tablets and Phablets in past few years running with Android operating system. However their other devices running on Java or BADA OS has not done so well, but they rocked the market with Android. Running on the same Galaxy Note 2 is one of their best devices with large form-factor ‘phablet’ which utilizes an S-Pen stylus as well as regular touch input on a massive 5.5-inch display.

On the other hand, BlackBerry has re-invented their Blackberry Smartphone as well as Operating system in form of Z10 and Q10. Blackberry Z10 is a 4.3-inch touch-only device and of course BlackBerry’s best Smartphone also the first handsets based on the new BlackBerry 10 software. When Note 2 was launched last year, it was priced at Rs 42,000 however now a days the phablet is available only for Rs 33,000. While BB Z10 was launched at the price of Rs. 44,500 in February and now it is available for Rs. 42,490. So if we compare there prices today, of course BB Z10 is too high but is it worth to at the said price over Note 2? Lets find out.

    Screen / Display:

Where Galaxy Note comes with 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1280x720 pixel resolution at 267ppi, Blackberry Z10 4.2 inch 4 point multi-touch IPS LCD Display at a 1280×768 resolution at 356 PPI. According to this if we leave the screen Size aside, BB display is far better compared to Note 2 in resolution and Pixel density. We get better clarity, sharpness and output with Z10.

But screen size does matters, right? Bigger the size, bigger the fun. I can still say that Galaxy Note 2 has one of the better Smartphone screens around for viewing feature-length films, TV series and games all day long.

    Build and Design:

The build quality of the brand new Blackberry Z10 is extremely impressive with rubberised textured surfaces and high-end, matte finish plastics. The BlackBerry Z10 has lightness to it but doesn’t feel frail with everything fitting together tightly. It is very comfortable to hold in one hand and operate the phone while on the other hand, you will face too difficulty accessing the phone with just one hand because of its bigger size. Also many people find it very difficult carrying such a huge sized phablet in their Jeans pocket. It all depends on the people’s choice.

    OS, Processor, RAM:

Processing power of Blackberry Z10 is decent, while not as brawny as the Galaxy Note 2, the Z10 comes with 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM and the software is obviously well-optimized. With this setup the device’s performance is generally pretty good.

Talking about Galaxy Note 2, it comes with Exynos quad-core 1.6GHz processor with 2GB of RAM and a Mali-400MP GPU. On the whole it will take any Android task, app or game you care to throw at it, including intensive multitasking. The S-Pen input is also very good.

Here, Note 2 clearly beats Z10. With such great Configuration and power, we can play millions of high end games or use any heavy applications without any problem. Whereas, with Blackberry, first of all we don’t have have so many applications or games on BB App World, but which ever we have, most of them still says “Incompatible”, for example: Skype Preview.

Both devices are capable of playing Full HD videos without any freeze, lag or any problem. But watching videos or movies is obviously better on larger screen, which means we get better experience of watching movies on Note 2 compared to Z10.

Re: Blackberry Z10 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Comparison

As per Camera, BB Z10 comes with 8MP rear as well as 2MP Front facing camera whereas Note 2 also comes with 8MP rear but a bit lesser 1.9MP front camera. That’s not a big deal, right? Both devices supports recoding HD videos at 1080p @ 30fps, and support features like Autofocus, Image Stabilization, LED Flash, etc.. However, Note 2 supports “Panorama” capturing which is not present in BB Z10 but it comes with a feature called “Time Swap” which is very similar to Burst mode but it is not exactly the same as burst mode because using Time Swap you can edit an image before actually saving it to get the best shot.

    Connectivity and Storage:

Blackberry Z10 and Galaxy Note 2 stands together in terms of connectivity with options like 3G, 4G, Bluetooth, Mobile Hotspot Tethering, NFC, WiFi, microUSB, HDMI, microUSB and 3.5mm headphone jack. So there is no difference between these both smartphones in connectivity.

As per storage, Z10 comes with 16GB Onboard storage with an expansion slot whereas Note 2 comes in 3 variants, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB on board storage capacity along with expandable memory slot.

Samsung devices has always been one of the best in terms of battery life. Galaxy Note 2 is powered with 3,100mAh Li Ion battery which provides amazing battery usage. To be frank, personally I have never got any smartphone which can last this long on a single charge. On the other hand , Blackberry Z10 comes with 1 800 mAh Li Ion battery which can provide your upto 12 to 14 hours of battery in usage mode.

    Final Words:

Both the devices are good but to some extent Galaxy Note 2 beats BB Z10 clearly. The very first thing is the price. Z10’s Rs 42,000 is far too high compared to Note 2’s Rs. 33,000. It would have been worth if we get something extra with Z10 at the said price. But except the display resolution and PPI I dint found anything useful for fun as we get in Note 2 with millions of apps and games. However, don’t forget Blackberry has always been a preferred choice of Business man. And the same happens with Z10. It is a business phone with several useful features like BB HUB, BB Balance, etc. Even talking about Battery, Samsung Note 2 works longer than Z10. Personally, unless and until I need a business phone, I will surely like to go with Note 2.
