Nokia Lumia 920 vs Samsung Ativs S Windows 8 phone

Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Ativs S are the two new Windows Phone 8 based Smartphones revealed last week. Nokia Lumia 920 is the new flagship of the brand and the next smartphone reference for Windows Phone 8. Whereas Samsung Ativs S is the first model from Samsung having Windows operating system. Samsung Ativs S is great news for us because Samsung is now a major player in the smartphone market, with such support from Samsung and Nokia no doubt, everything seems true for the Windows Phone and could be successful start in the coming weeks.

I am comparing both the models so that users can easily make out which is superior for them.

    Display:

    • Nokia Lumia 920 - 4.5 inch; 768x1280px; PureMotion HD
    • Samsung Ativs S 4.8 inch (16M colors) 720 x 1280 px

Nokia Lumia 920 has a WXGA HD + 4.5 inches with a resolution of 332 DPI (dots per inch) and a definition of 768x1280. It would provide a refresh rate 2.5 times faster than other smartphones, would result in a more fluid scrolling. The screen has the HD + Pure Motion technology. A sensor connected to the panel is capable of determining the level of ambient light to adjust the contrast but also the intensity of the colors on the screen. Nokia has also Super Sensitive Touch technology capable of detecting various gestures classic multi screens. Talking about Samsung Ativs S it has 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen.

    Weight:

    • Nokia Lumia 920 - 180 g
    • Samsung Ativs S - 135 g

Now you can note that Ativs S is much light weighted than Lumia 920. So if you are used to with light smartphones then you should go with Ativs S.

    Camera:

    • Nokia Lumia 920 - 8.7MP PureView; 1080p video
    • Samsung Ativs S 8 MP; 1080p video

Lumia 920 has 8.7 megapixel camera (3264 x 2448 pixels) with Carl Zeiss branded 4x digital zoom and dual LED flash. The Lumia 920 belongs to the new family PureView, it is logically positioned true camera-phone with a sensor size 1/3 inch and a focal length of 26 mm. The front camera offers a definition of 1280 x 720 pixels. Samsung Ativs S has 8 Megapixel Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash Sub. And front camera is having 1.9 Megapixel Camera VT.

    Processor and Battery:

    • Nokia Lumia 920 -1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 and 2000mAh battery
    • Samsung Ativs S - 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 and 2300mAh battery

Nokia Lumia 920 with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core 1.5GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. It has a 2000 mAh battery and the manufacturer claims a battery life of 10 hours in talk on 3G networks and 400 hours standby. The processor used for Samsung Ativs S is same as Lumia 920 and it is also coupled with 1GB of RAM. But it has 2300mAH battery due to which it gives more backup than Lumia 920.

    Memory:

    • Nokia Lumia 920 32 GB non-expandable
    • Samsung Ativs S 16 GB / 32 GB / 64 GB expandable

In Lumia 920 you can get memory only 32 GB which is non-expandable whereas in Ativs S along with 16 and 32 GB you can also expand till 64 GB. So if you want to store many movies and other things you should opt for Samsung Ativs S.

Re: Nokia Lumia 920 vs Samsung Ativs S Windows 8 phone

Allow me to add a small comparison from my side as well:

    Lumia: 4.5", 768x1280, PureMotion HD+, LCD
    Ative: 4.8", 720x1280, Super AMOLED

    Lumia: 1.5GHz dual-core, Snapdragon S4
    Ative: 1.5GHz dual-core, Snapdragon S4

    Lumia: 1GB
    Ative: 1GB

    Lumia: 8.7MP PureView, 1080p video
    Ative: 8MP, 1080p video

    Lumia: 32GB, non-expandable
    Ative: 16GB/32GB/64GB expandable

    Lumia: LTE
    Ative: LTE or HSPA+

    Lumia: 2000mAh
    Ative: 2300mAh

According to this, i think ofcourse Samsung Ativ wins the shot. :P
