Pin or Unpin Folders and apps in Windows 8 Metro Start Screen

After getting recommended by many of my friends, I decided to finally install Windows 8 on my System. I have dual booted it with my existing Windows 7 ultimate. Now, as am new I faced too many problems including searching for any software. Someone told me that I can also pin my favorite apps to the new Start Screen.

That will be really good for me. Do you guys have any knowledge how can I pin or unpin any applications or folder to my Metro Start Screen ? Please let me know soon. Thank you.

The process for pinning or unpinning the apps to start menu is very simple. Well, here is the step by step process for doing the same:

    • First of all go to APPS Screen where you can see all applications listed.
    • Now right click on any application you want to pin to the start menu.
    • You will see a checkbox on those particular applications. Check the box.
    • Now at the bottom of the screen you will find options for “Pin to Start”, “Pin to Taskbar”, etc
    • Just click on “Pin to Start” and you are done.

In order to unpin the same from start screen, just reverse the process.

It depends where you are on your system. For example:

Wherever you are, just press Windows + Q on your keyboard. You will see a search box and APPS is listed right below, click on it. Note: This step is not for the people using Touch devices.

    • If you are already on Windows Metro Start Screen, than simply press Windows + Z key. You will see APPS Icon at the bottom right of the screen.

    • If you are on Desktop, Press Windows + C key. This will open Charm Bar on the right side. Click the very first icon on top (search icon). On the next window, Apps is listed right below the search field.
