This new tab will hit the US markets on April 22nd in variants of a 7.0 inch and 10.1 inch model. As of now only the Galaxy 2 tab 7.0 will be launched while 10.1 inch will be launched later next month on May 13th. These both galaxy Tab 2 variants are powered by latest Android 4.0 ICS that gives more apps access that the previous tab. It will offer complete access to Android Market and Google Play from where users can access much more applications compared to others like Nook Color tab or Kindle Fir, that too at the same price. The cost set for these tabs are around 249 USD for 7.0 and 349 USD for 10.1” variant. If compared, its very similar to the recently launched tablets by Toshiba's that costs $449.99 for 7.7-inch and 10.1 Excite tablets.

As per the specifications, Galaxy Tab 2 runs on 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The tab also features a 3 MP rear and VGA front-facing camera. If we talk about storage, Tab 7.0” comes with 8GB internal storage while Tab 10.1” will contain 16GB. Both tabs memory can be extended upto 32Gb with external SD Card slot. According to its features and specs, it seems that the Galaxy Tab 2 meant to keep users away from another e readers by offering much more feature-rich experience at the same cost. The strategy behind keeping the price so low seems an effort by Samsung to better compete with U.S. market leaders Apple and Amazon. The company is planning to begin the latest products through Best Buy's retail outlets as well as Amazon's online Web site.
