According to a TOI reports, Reliance Communication (RCom) and Google has signed up a partnership where all Android smartphones in India will be sold with Reliance 3G network. This partnership will be effective from tomorrow, i.e. 14th April where users will get 1 GB free data for the first six months. TOI also indicates that the Reliance-Google partnership is valid to “all Android phones sold in India” but actually it is just about 3G handsets sold through Reliance only. There is nothing like people will not get Android phones without Reliance 3G, you can still buy Androids without reliance 3G in the market.
RCom and Google will actually spend approximately Rupees 30-crore each for the promotion of the offer. Reliance Communication spend 30 CR on campaign for promote Android phones, whereas Google will spend on online campaign. This is not the first time Google doing this. They already had such deals with Telstra in Australia, and Verizon in the U.S earlier. In India, first it was Apple to sign up such deals with Airtel and Aircel, now its Google’s turn.
According to Industry analysts, this partnership between Reliance communication and Google can give a huge benefit for both companies. As it can give more than a million long-term subscribers to RCOM in this 2 year period of deal.
