What is Continuum in Windows 10?

Windows 10 is out and come with lot of features. I want to know a bit about Continuum in Windows 10. What is this thing and how it works?

I tried to read on some site which says that it is going to offer desktop/tablet hybrid experience. What does this really means?

It is some kind of launcher or some extra features. I checked some photos also where see regular Windows screen on tablets. Windows 8 if you see on tablet has a different UI and if you see on pc is different. In Windows 10 also I am unable to find any difference.

Continuum is something that offers you a common UI on devices and on pc. You can easy shift to tablet friendly interface or you can simply shift to a desktop based UI. Like in tablet with 10inch screen you can have a start menu; you can have some internal features that you can see only desktop. Continuum tries give you dual benefits on the tablet. You can have both the things side by side and you can also work well on the same. So that in future if you play to use a keyboard mouse you can use your tablet a portable net book.

Continuum just gives you the PC UI on a tablet. So that if you are using an external monitor on the tablet you can get the PC like UI on the screen and that would be easier to use. Microsoft is just trying to brings desktop UI to the users so that they can use Windows Store apps more easily.

Sometime it gets confusing if you are having different UI on your screen. You are unable to work on the same and you won’t be able to checkout things in many details. Through Continuum you can have the similar UI on your tablet also.

Well, we now have the first ever device that actually uses Continuum. It is Acer Jade Primo. They introduced the smartphone today itself at IFA 2015. It is running Windows 10 OS, powered with Snapdragon 808 and 21 Megapixel rear camera.

Acer also showed up a Demo using the Continuum, allowing to use the phone display on Big screen with desktop UI. It was amazing.

Continuum is a feature to detect the hardware you are using and provide optimum interface to your device. Windows itself that changes to suit your hardware; applications will also adjust to offer the best way to interact with them on the platform you’re using.
