Problem can be with the usb drivers. You have to update that to locate what is the problem and you can find on the official site of Motorola. Just search for Moto X usb drivers and you will get on that official page.

Then you can connect the phone and check back. Due to lack proper usb drivers this kind of issue appear and the tool will be not able to detect it. Go in Device Manager and see whether the tool drivers is installed. Or else you will see a exclamation mark on the same.

Unable to update Moto X through Motorola Device Manager

Moto X has got a new Android 4.4.4 update which is update for download. I am having some issue with my internet connection. The 2G is not working and 3G is very slow. This can be due to bad weather. But my broad is working really fine.

I am trying to use Motorola Device Manager but it is not able to detect the phone. I am not able to figure out why. I can see the internal storage in my computer. I want to update the new OS through this tool but it fails. I hope there will be some way of doing this manually.

How you got the update. I am still waiting for the same. I have Moto E and I as using Motorola Device Manager to locate the update. My phone is connected. Most of the drivers were installed automatically. But they are unable to locate any new version. It shows me that the device is already updated. Even if I can find the zip file of update I will install that manually. IT is around 4 days the update is not provided on this phone. OTA process also shows the phone is updated.
