Lava Iris X1 Smartphone Review - Best alternative for Moto E

    Introduction:

Lava one of the standard Indian company has introduced some amazing smartphones in past years. Lava has launched many high-end phones to low-end phones according to the markets need and trend. As the ongoing trend of the market is to provide super powerful smartphones in less price so Lava did not waste time to realize the need of the market and has introduced its new flagship named Iris X1.

All the manufacturers are now focusing to target low level segment market. After the launch of Moto E all other company is trying to outclass this phone from the market and for this reason Lava and other company has introduced low-budget super smartphones in the market. Lava Iris X1 is priced at 7,999 rupees and has included plenty of features in too little priced phone. Lava has tried to accommodate numerous features and specifications in its new flagship which are going to get revealed in this review to verify whether this phone is value for money and whether Lava Iris X1 will outclass Moto E from the market for which it is brought in the market.

Before testing the device, let's have a quick look at its specifications list:

    • Android 4.4.2 KitKat Operating System
    • Dual SIM (Normal + micro) with dual standby
    • 4.5-inch capacitive IPS touch screen display
    • 854 x 480 pixels resolution
    • 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor
    • 1GB of RAM
    • Videocore IV GPU
    • 8 Megapixel rear camera with BSI+ sensor and Dual LED Flash
    • 2 Megapixel front-facing camera
    • 4GB internal memory, expandable upto 32GB using microSD card
    • 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS
    • 1800 mAh battery

    Design and Packaging:

Iris X1 is budget phone so do not expect super built and design of the phone but I can assure you that the design of the phone is worth for money. Looks and feel of the phone will remind you about iPhone 4S but bigger Apple phone. Screen of Iris X1 falls on bigger size else there would have no visible difference if someone looks your phone at glance. Built quality is definitely not up to the mark of Apple phone but weight and shape will definitely make you feel about Apple phone. Body is rectangle with curved edges with sides covered with plastic chrome finished which adds more similarity with iPhone.

Front of the phone looks clear with huge screen of 4.5 inch in the center followed by three capacitive buttons below screen one for options, one for home and last one for back. Above the screen is well designed with ear piece on the middle and proximity and ambient light sensors on the left of the ear piece, front camera falls on the right side of the ear piece. Front of the phone looks decent because of well organized sensors and front camera.

Sides of the phone are chrome plastic finished with volume rocker buttons on the left side of the phone and power button on the right. Upper side of the phone has two inlets one for audio enhancement and one for microUSB slot. Down side of the phone has just microphone pin hole for audio input. Bezel of the phone allows Iris X1 to look very slim and decent. Back of the phone is also equal impressive with camera of 8MP and below lies two led flash on the left top and right of the top lies secondary micro phone which captures audio while recording videos from your rear camera.

At the centre of the back panel we can see the branding of IRIS X1 and bottom center of the phone has speakers for audio output. Even if there was a price constraint, Lava has tried best to make design of the phone look premium smartphone.

Re: Lava Iris X1 Smartphone Review - Best alternative for Moto E

    Display / Screen:

When we talk about the phone which falls under budget phone segment it is hard to give review about the display. Most attractive hardware of the phone is display; most of the phone is sold only with the display properties encased in them. With so low cost phone it is hard to introduce brilliant display in them but Lava has tried its level best to produce super display for the users.

Phone is sporting with 4.5inch FWVGA display which means 480854 pixels which is quite understood for low budget phones. Per pixel density of Iris X1 is 218 which outputs vibrant color reproduction with reasonably good viewing angles. Saturation and touch response of the display is also good but sun legibility of the display is little low makes your eyes strain while operating phone under bright light.

If you compare display then you will find the display is very weak but when you consider the price of the phone then you will be satisfied with the display properties introduced in the phone. Overall we can place this phone in above average category when we talk about display of Iris X1.

    Operating System:

First Lava phone to run on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS making this phone special compare to other Lava phone. Thought the phone has lighter OS still the performance is not very impressive on this phone, at certain point you can see visible lags while operating this phone. UI of the phone is smooth but not efficient. Lava has made use of simple UI which is good thought by Lava but still they have not succeeded on implanting good OS experience.

    Hardware and Performance:

Core of the phone is powered by Broadcom BCM23550 chipset which is found in most of the low-range phones. Even if the phone is priced lower still it has strength of 1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom processors along with 1GB RAM. Quad-core processors and 1GB RAM was the configuration of high-end segment phone in past years but now Lava has made it possible for its low-level phone too.

Now users with high expectations and under budget can compete with other smartphones in the market with respect to speed and efficiency. Videocore GPU IV will carry out all your graphic related instructions like high end gaming which requires heavy graphic and RAM can be easily processed on your phone. Needed features of the smartphone now a day is to have multi-tasking and multi-processing and to fulfill that requirement it is left up to processors and RAM configuration of the phone.

Lava Iris X1 is a dual-SIM phone which is available in all Lava phones; it also has internal memory of 4GB which is quite reasonable for this kind of smartphones. Out of 4GB you can use memory one for apps and other for multimedia, partition is wisely created to manage both apps and multimedia files on your phone. So we can say you will definitely get value for money if you are buying this phone.

    Camera Quality:

Megapixel range has moved from VGA to 41MP in no time from this we can make a point that technology has advanced at great pace in limited time. You will not encounter any phone less than 5MP even if its low-budget phone but still Lava has introduced 8MP camera powered with BSI sensor in budget phone. Camera captures good images which is vibrant and fully justifying the price and quality of 8MP.

Indoor images come noisy even after the flash of the phone is used but autofocus of the phone is very responsive which captures quick images. 8MP camera can shoot videos at 720p resolution which is quite common with budget phones. Videos too come sharp and vibrant but autofocus while shooting is not given while recording. Overall a good camera performance by Iris X1.

    Battery Life:

Iris X1 is installed with 1800mAh battery and this battery is so powerful to past all performance tests for battery. Test was by stressing the phone with continuous movie play and continuous browsing and got the battery test result. You can easily get heavy usage average time of 7 hours and average users can wander with this phone for whole day.

    Conclusion:

We have seen all the features and specifications of the phone so we can conclude that this phone has done more than enough with respect to the price. Iris X1 has excellent looks with super solid build making this phone to have premium looks. Camera justifies the price of the phone but phone has average performance which could have been more pleasing and efficient in the phone.

Battery of the phone is heart of the phone and this phone has healthy heart. Price of the phone is another amazing feature of this phone so we can conclude that this phone will gain huge acceptance over the globe.
