How to Root and install clockworkMod recovery in ZTE Open

Anyone able to root ZTE Open phone? This phone comes loaded with Firefox OS and there are few limitation of using the same. Like if you want t port a android Os on that then it is not possible. It also has a locked firmware. So I am looking for some working solution here once root the phone and install android os or can dual boot the device. It is easy for android but is there a method available for Firefox OS.

Re: How to Root and install clockworkMod recovery in ZTE Open

Yes there is and I am going to give you the full steps. For that the things you have to do is backup your data and download ZTE root package. This consist of root-zte-open.zip, recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.3-roamer2.img Movistar - OPEN_FFOS_V1.0.0B04_TME and EU_DEV_FFOS_V1.0.0B02_USER_SD2.zip. You can download this files from XDA and then you can follow my below process. The first step here is to root and install custom recovery. For that you need a Linux based pc. Like one having ubuntu.

You need to install adb in that. For that type the below command:

    "sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot"

Then you have to update udev rules so that the system can identify the device. For that type
"#create a file with your udev rules
    nano /etc/udev/rules.d/60-fxos"

The next thing you have to do is copy the content which is created in the file. That start from SUBSYSTEM and end at GROUP. And after that add the following below things:
#update permissions of the 60-fxos file
    chmod 644 /etc/udev/rules.d/60-fxos
    #Restart udev
    sudo service udev restart

After that you have to reboot your pc to reboot adb service. The next thing to do is root exploit. For that you have to enable remote debugging which his located in the settings. Tap on device information and then tap on more information. In that you can find a developer section just go in that and enable Remote debugging. You can run the #adb device command to find that your phone is detected. The name of device will appear.

For rooting you have to use the root-zte-open.zip and extract the content of the same in /fos/root/. To update permission run chmod 755 root-zte-open and to launch the root run ./run.sh from the folder through terminal. The device is not rooted. Now we will move ahead with the next step of installing custom recovery. You have to copy the recovery zip file in the same working folder. You can navigate to that and before installing custom recovery you can also backup the current rom. For that type :

    adb shell
    su
    busybox dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd0 of=/mnt/sdcard/stock-recovery.img bs=4k
    exit

Then type the below command. This s for flashing the custom rom.

    adb push recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.3-roamer2.img /mnt/sdcard/cwm.img
    adb shell
    shell@android:/ $ su
    shell@android:/ # flash_image recovery /mnt/sdcard/cwm.img

Once done reboot your phone and done.
