Installing Android 4.4.2 Kitkat in Sony Xperia L

Sony Xperia L is a nice 4.3inch display phone comes laded with Android 4.2 Jellybean operating system. Till yet Sony has not provided any fresh update for this phone. But there are chances that you can get the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system on it. New OS means lot of new feature. Sony Xperia L has 1 GHz Dual Core cpu with 1GB and Adreno 305 graphics. It is a good phone that will give you nice long lasting output with various apps and a bit of gaming usage also. The phone is sleek in design. 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8230 dual-core is good enough to give you multiple app usage with a bit of nice battery output also. Xperia X offer you 8 megapixel fast-capture camera with Exmore RS. It has 4x digital zoom with auto focus. You can take quiet nice photos through this.

Now coming to the point, today I am going to show you how you can install the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS on this device. As we know its already been about six months since Google released the Kitkat update but only 8% of over all android device have managed so far to get Kitkat. So, today we will install Android 4.4 on Xperia L although it is not officially available from Sony. You can do that through CynogenMod11 firmware. The process require rooting and then we will flash the rom on it. It is necessary that you must backup your existing rom after rooting. The rom has gps problem.

    • Root your mobile phone. Without rooting the process will not work. After that backup your existing rom through Nandroid or through Titanium backup.
    • Backup your entire phone data before moving ahead.
    • Ensure that you have maximum battery left. Charge your phone is battery is low.
    • Go in Settings > Developer Option and enable USB Debugging.
    • Install a root checker app in the phone and just verify that the device is rooted or not.
    • Download Cyanogens Mod 11 Firmware package
    • Download Google Apps Package for Xperia L

    Installation Process:

    • Connect Xperia X to your pc through original usb cable.
    • Move the two downloaded pages in the memory card of your device.
    • Now we have to boot the phone in recovery mode. Where will install the latest custom rom. For that you have to install CWM in the phone which can be done by rooting.
    • Boot your phone in recovery and from the menu choose Wipe Data/ Factory Reset.
    • Then choose wipe dalvik cache.
    • Once done select install from zip card. Navigate to the place where you had installed the custom rom. Select the Firmware first.
    • Wait back once the installation is over. Then again go back in the same place and choose Google App Package. Once done restart the mobile phone.
