Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual Review

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is a true value tablet that gives you an amazing 6inch HD screen. This device might fall on the expensive side of your pocket but it is quiet enough to give you a complete multimedia and gaming output. This device is created with a motive to give you good viewing experience on the phone. Sony always brings something innovative. They are quiet popular for the sound and camera quality. And this time we are having Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. A phablet that come loaded with all new features and amazing hardware configuration. You can enjoy smooth multi-tasking on the same. Being a phablet it is big and bulky. If you add a cover it gets more thick. But those who need a big screen can go for Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. There are other phablet but the HD screen is quiet impressive here.

Sony also tried to keep the phone thin to some extent. But still it is not easy to stuff so many things inside an ultra thin design. It looks Sony is trying to move ahead in the phablet competition. There is huge number of buyers for big size phone where portable size is not really great for gaming purpose. Along with HD screen, a 13MP primary camera and three color bodies add more benefit. The screen is capable of giving you full 720p resolution that is because of TRILUMINOS Display. Lets checkout the device in more detail.

    Design and Packaging:

Sony has done bit effort in keeping the device light and thin. 6inch screen is really impressive on the front side. After Xperia Z which falls in the durable product line, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual can be counted as unique. Sony has repeated very few things here. This phone adopts a nice sleek style of phablet with great looks. It will impress anyone who sees it for the first time. But also it can be bit heavy on the pocket. 6inch makes it really large. Something near to a tablet pc. It will be a bit touch to fix it in your jean pocket. Better carry it inside a bag. Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual comes in three color which is black, white and purple. Among all color white looks great but can be get dirty soon. You can go for dark colors. This phone does not have a bad image in any color. It looks classy in all. But color preference helps you to make choices.

Tiny curve edges and think design add more to the grip. Almost all buttons are placed the right side. You get a power, volume and camera key there. Sony can move the power to the left side which makes it quiet easy to access with one hand. To turn on screen you have to use the other hand. Reaching the power or volume button with your thumb can be not easy and if you try to use your fingers for that the phone can slip. It has a 3.5m jack on the tip side. Further there are two sim slots also. While on the left Sony has provided space for the memory card slot. The micro subpart and data transfer also lies at the same place.

It has spears at the bottom side and the back side holds a 13 Megapixel camera and flash. Instead of rubberize finish the entire body is glossy. If you have a white color it can easily catch dust from your hand. Also the scratches are nicely visible. So go for dark color. Body does not look weak here. it is strong and sturdy. 7.7mm thickness does not make it very thick, but after adding cover it gain more weight.

Re: Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual Review

    Hardware and Features:

The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is powered by Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz. It has 1GB ram and for graphic it has an Adreno 305 chips. It offers you 8GB internal storage. But around 50% of the storage is reserved by rom. You won’t get entire space. It is good to add a memory card. You can put up to 32GB storage in that. The phone has quiet decent hardware config. With Quad core cpu and a dedicated graphic card still the device fall in the mid range mobile segment. That is because of ample of resources used by the HD Screen. You might face a bit lagging or freezing issue on running HD Games. If this device has a 12GB ram with more new graphic chip then it can fall on the high end series.

Sony gives you a 50GB of free Box Storage. This is cloud storage for your phone where you can store many videos and photos for no charge. It runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system. But there are chances that we might get Kitkat in future. For camera back 13MP is amazing but the front vga camera is very poor. Dual SIM slots can only work with Micro Sim. The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual comes with all standard connectivity option. You get the latest Bluetooth 4.0 and wifi support on the same. The front screen is powered by Triluminous display offer you a max resolution of 1280x720. After testing the screen resolution I am really impressed. Color reproduction here is quiet great. You can see all images in detail. Sunlight readability is also good here.

    Operating System and UI:

This device comes with pre-loaded Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It can work with Kitkat also but Sony has not provided nay information on the same. We can receive OTA for that. Being a new phone I was expecting Kitkat on this device. But Sony sticked with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) which is disappointing. The phone has a very smooth interface due to optimized android operating system. Sony uses its own proprietary touch interface with a full optimized operating system. You can get different swipe animation here. You can modify the home screen as per your need.

There are few things which will really excite you on this big screen. To see then notification just taps two times on the screen and the notification panel will slid down on its own. You can also add shortcuts and enjoy different personalization. The phone has a few pre-installed applications that commonly come in many Sony devices. This is Walkman, Sony Select, Track ID, Smart Connection, etc. You can use these apps as per your need but you cannot remove them. Here Track ID is bit good app where you can find song info directly on internet. Just record a few second of the same.

    Camera:

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual gives you a mid range camera. You have a 13MP camera with dual led flash on the back side that takes fairly nice amount of pictures on outdoor. It has an AR Effect feature. It allows you to add live animated effects on a picture. Different picture mode helps you to take more amazing photos. Photos are great when there is ample of light around. But when you are talking the photos in dark try to optimize the settings. It will help you to get less grainy images. the front camera is not amazing. I was expecting a nice one here but it is very low.

Camera app is simple and gives you all feature directly on the screen with tiny icon. You can tap on them and make changes. If you are expecting too much from the camera then it is not good. The same is applicable for the videos also. You can take decent videos through the same. But remember to use a memory card while recording. HD Videos eat up internal space really fast.

Re: Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual Review

    Performance:

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual somewhere is not an up to the mark device. Being a phablet there are high expectation there. I found Xperia Z more better in terms of output. The phone can help you to use different apps but a few times the screen will lag or freeze. It can be due to the high resolution. Most of the time the graphic processor will remain occupied and when you play game it will heat fast. Freezing is bit common here. It looks the OS is too heavy for the phone. Benchmarking scores were not as expected. For audio quality the speakers are good. But for the headphone you have to buy something better. One that comes in the package is too low and you cannot hear any sound effect on them.

I had tested the audio n a Bluetooth headphone where it gives really nice audio. The speaker is also loud enough for a single room. Default video player app of Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual can play video up to 1080p resolution. Battery is good when you are using the phone only for multimedia and web surfing. You can easily get an entire day usage on the same. For gaming and camera it is limited to 6 hrs.

    Conclusion:

Sony tried to push it product line buy releasing Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual as widescreen phone. The phablet series. But it looks Sony has done less updating with the hardware. The device comes for Rs. 24,990. At the same price range we have a few performance phones which are much powerful and have more features. It is a bit complicated to say that the phone is a revalue for money product. If the price was below Rs.20000 then it would be a recommendation for those who need device for web surfing and chatting. But for those who need a reliable phone for gaming and multimedia have to think twice.
