Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 Smartphone Review

Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 follows the league of extreme phablets in the market. Following the trend it is found many brands like Lenovo, Huawei, Gionee, Micromax, etc are coming out with the most surprising models and at a very distinct price. Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 comes at the budget price of Rs.14000 where it is giving you mo re. The device is launched recent which features a dual sim design. You can use 3G sims on both the slots. It comes loaded with a Android 4.0 Jellybean operating system. So you have the latest OS support where you can use latest apps and games on it. This phablet has amazing 5.3inch screen on the front side.

It comes with a 5MP front camera which is enough to give you hd video and photos. While at the backside the device is loaded with 8MP camera and dual led flash. It is powered by 1.2GHz dual processor and 1GB ram. And for graphic it is supported by PowerVR SGX 531 graphics processor. Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 offer you 16GB internal storage and it runs on 2,550mAh battery. After checking out the specification I was bit surprised when I saw the cost. I thought this will easily fall at Rs.20000 but Spice kept that restricted to Rs.14000 which is affordable to all. We will checkout how this phablet is good when it comes to a budget produce line but before that lets have a quick look at the phone's highlights:

    • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
    • 5.3 inch capacitive touch screen IPS display
    • Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with Dual Standby
    • 960 540 pixels
    • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
    • 1GB of RAM
    • 8 Megapixel rear camera with Auto focus and LED Flash
    • 5 Megapixel front-facing auto camera
    • 1080p HD video recording
    • 16GB internal memory, expandable upto 32GB using MicroSD Card
    • 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, aGPS, USB OTG
    • 2550 mAh battery

    Design and Packaging

5.3inch screen really makes it a bit size device. Being a phablet you can assume to have amazing screen quality here for videos and for reading it. The phone has a big size dimension. I had not found any device that really fall in this price range and give you a screen size bigger than 5.3inch. I am talking on the basis of hardware. The phone is durable when it comes to its design. It is also durable and it gives a nice look. But not very attractive. Being a budget product the design remains restricted towards the look and feel. It is sturdy when you hold it in your hand. At the front a 5.3inch screen placed that has the regular capacity buttons at the bottom side.

    Display / Screen

The Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi 530 comes with a 5.3-inch qHD IPS screen that has a resolution of 540x960 pixels and pixel density of 206ppi, which is decent and graphics and text appear sharp. The viewing angles looked good, and the under-sun visibility on the phone was decent, and the screen is not very reflective. Videos and pictures looked good albeit a little less vivid compared to AMOLED displays but then again AMOLED displays offer saturated colors. Spice Stellar Pinnacle has a nice display. But it comes with Android 4.0 only which is a bit outdated today because you already have 4.2 update rolling out in many other devices.

We can expect a update in the future. The phone has nice capacitive buttons which are easy to use. The runt camera is placed on the top right with sensors. You can take quiet nice images through that when you are in outdoors. 5MP camera is a big surprise in this device. A tiny notification led light is also on the front side that allow you instant notification when there are message.

Being a big size screen it becomes easy for you to work and swipe. You can simply checkout a entire web page on the same. The phone comes in bronze color that hide the sturdy look. It has curved corners. All keys are placed on the right and left edge key. You have volume control, and power button there. The placement of keys are quiet fine but as the screen size is bit you have to use it with your two hands. Micro usb port and audio jack lies on the top with power key.

At the backside the phone offer you a rubberized finish so that you can have a more better grip when you are holding it. I was thinking that this would be glossy plastic. The phone has as 8MP primary camera supported by dual led flash. Picture quality is quiet nice in dark also. The battery is in inside which you can remove by opening the back cover. There are two sim slots.

Re: Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 Smartphone Review

    Camera:

8MP Primary camera features autofocus and dual led flash. This is one of the biggest point you are getting clear and nice picture. But remember that you have to hold your hand steady when you are taking photos. The camera processor is not smart enough to give you static images when you are shaking your hand. Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 product good images under low light also. You can take impressive photos and also add a bit effective. Images are clear when you are outdoor.

At night you can find a bit low quality images because of less powerful camera here. You can take good quality videos also. To be frank Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 has a average camera. But through settings and options you can enhance then and make them more brighter. Camera app is standard and give you settings like hdr more, continues short, panorama, etc. You can use burst mode take continuous pack of images. The front camera is also average, but it give you a auto-focus feature. You can take some nice selfies through it.

    Operating System and UI:

Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi 530 runs on bit old Android OS which is Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is not really new and it also limit the phone usage. I was expecting Jellybean on this. Spice says that this phone can be upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but when we are going to get update, info is not provided. I hope after adding the new android OS we can get more effective output from the same. Most probably you have to go the service center for that. T

he phone has ICS Os which gives you all standard UI and apps required to use the phone. The notification tray is quiet simple from where you can access different settings instantly. You can control your wifi, Bluetooth, screen rotation, gps and many more options. The phone has ample of screen shortcuts and widget. The phone features Gesture Screen lock which is a additional things here. You can create your own screen lock gestures here.

You can switch between different apps through the home key. You will have to hold it for few sections. Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 comes with few pre-installed applications. Like for security it gives you NQ Mobile Security. This app will keep your pone protected from malware. You also have a BSE app and you can use Documents To Go for edition your office file. It has a internal file manager and few more applications. WhatsApp come pre-installed in it. Default audio and video player are decent enough to play all kind of files. As per the hardware the phone works really fine. It does not lag or freeze when you are using multiple files in the background.

    Performance:

Powered by 1.2GHz dual processor, 1GB ram and PowerVR SGX 531 graphics processor it is ideal for gaming also. The phone works well with all kind of apps. You have a 16GB storage solution in this. You can expand the storage upto 32GB by adding a Micro SD card. The phone run all hd clips quite nicely.

It is good if you can instantly upgraded to Jellybean OS on this so that you can have more UI benefits. Sound quality here is also good. Video quality is nice on 5.3inch screen. All hd clips work well. The phone has a decent sound output. I will not say it is very great. For games you can play many hd games on it. It can be counted under good budget gaming phone.

    Battery:

Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 has 2,550mAh battery. This is the best thing Spice has done here. Big size battery means more power for the entire day. You can have amazing a whole day usage and still a few amount of battery will be left in the device. I had tested the phone on wifi for the entire day with bit of gaming and multimedia. THs phone works fine. Due to 2550mAh battery it works well with all functions on.

You can use the phone effectively when you are traveling also. The battery will drain fast if you are clicking too many photos. That is because of dual led flash. But for regular usage like for internet surfing, for multimedia and gaming the battery is quiet nice. To save more power you can turn on Power Saver Mode in the phone which will help you more.

    Conclusion:

Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi 530 is one of the best budget phone in the market. It gives you a 5.3inch screen size with great hardware and making power. The phone has a decent battery life also. You can play games, you can watch hd videos and it will work for the entire day. At a cost of Rs.14000 this phone remains on the top of list under budget model. Quad Core processor and 1GB ram will take care about the performance. You can instantly switch to app and nothing will lag.

Being a phablet the phone is bit heavy. It gets more bulky after adding a flip cover. But those who are looking for a standard phone that has big screen and good output can go for Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530. A recent release Lenovo S860 has all similar features, but comes for Rs.19000 and a Micromax A110 Canvas 2 which also has the same features come for Rs.10000. The only difference between spice and this models is the android operating system. Other give you Jellybean.
