    HTC One M8 Review

HTC is one of the successful mobile companies who have always come with very innovative technology in their flagship. Innovation and creativity is very essential in the mobile phones to match with the competition in the market which is growing intensely with the new entrants in the market every now and then. Half a decade before only few major companies used to rule the market, competition then was tuff too but nothing compared to now. HTC was the first mobile company to come up with Android OS in it and later was followed by others. Today smartphone has grown more powerful and performance oriented device and to match this competition HTC revealed its new flagship named HTC One M8.

HTC One was released last year and won many award for the creative design body. People were stunned in the MWC event with the announcement and the features associated with this phone. HTC also revealed its first phone to have Ultra pixel camera resolution. So this time HTC has planned something new for its new flagship which I will detail in this review. HTC has set the base very firmly with HTC One and now need to bring something new in the market to keep up in the market. Let’s have a close look at the device but before that here are the highlights of HTC One M8:

    • Android 4.4 KitKat operating system with HTC Sense 6.0
    • 5-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3
    • 1920 x 1080 pixels Resolution
    • 2.5 GHz / 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor
    • 2GB of RAM
    • Adreno 330 GPU
    • Duo Camera: 2 Megapixel + UltraPixel rear camera with dual LED Flash, BSI Sensor and F/2.0 aperture
    • 5 Megapixel front-facing camera
    • Full HD 1080p video recording with HDR
    • 16GB & 32GB internal storage memory, expandable upto 128 GB using MicroSD Card
    • 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX codec, MHL, GPS with GLONASS and NFC.
    • FM radio with RDS, HTC BoomSound, Dual front-facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers, HTC Sense Voice, Infrared remote control
    • 2600 mAh battery

    Design and Packaging:

HTC One that was released last year had very appreciable design which created sensation in the market. Unibody with aluminium skin body won many awards. HTC One M8 will also prove the same, looks of the phone is just incredible and portrays a premium handset look. Grip of the phone is perfect and the bezel of the phone is charismatic and forcefully express that you are holding a premium smartphone.

Unlike HTC One it does not have smooth and polished back but still has superb look which can win heart of the users. Additional colour options given to the users are silver and gold which adds more royal look to the phone. There are other colours also available for the users to make choice from.HTC One M8 has metal chassis and screen size has also increased with 5-inch huge display which was not there in the predecessor.

HTC One M8 sports powerful stereo speakers above and below display and the speakers is powered by BoomSound which gives a fantastic and clear audio. As the phone is built by metal the weight of this smartphone is little heavy than its competitors. Front of the phone houses the display at center and one speaker, front camera and sensors above and one speaker below the display. Back of the phone has duo-camera and dual LED flash at top shelf and HTC logo in the middle followed by Beats logo at bottom shelf of the back. Sides of the phone have volume controller and upper phone has power button and audio jack. Below the phone there is a micro USB port and microphone pinhole for voice input.

    Display / Screen:

Display provided in all HTC phone are just incredible. HTC One was packed with Full HD resolution and 469ppi density which had great display output. HTC One M8 also has 5-inch display with full HD resolution. HTC is making use of Super LCD 3 for its flagship which will be packed with 441ppi. Display is more accurate and vibrant with Super LCD 3 technology and even the viewing angle and colour reproduction of the display is amazing.

If you are watching HD movies or playing HD games, this display gives outstanding every minute detail in the movies or game. With 1920X1080 pixels display you will be getting enhanced and crisp texture in the display. Compare to AMOLED display the colours produced by Super LCD looks more natural with perfect balance of RGB matrix. Colours do not wash out when the phone is tilted, that means the viewing angle is very wide and the colours would be looking the same from every direction. Display provided in the phone is really fantastic making the phone to be placed in premium shelf.

    Operating System and UI:

HTC One M8 will run latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat.Running the latest Android OS is not an issue because the configuration of the phone is just brilliant. Most amazing and eye-catching feature of the phone is its UI, Blink feed is back but with latest upgrade. HTC Sense 6.0 is installed in this flagship which has very smooth interface and delivers incredible performance.

Android 4.4.2 OS brings cleaner, less jumbled and good integration with Google search and other Google services. Tiled home screen looks good and you can edit this tile according to your need. So now smooth interface has gone even smoother and efficient to use and this will definitely leave the users awestruck.

    Hardware and Performance:

For the hardware configuration HTC has ensured the latest hardware from Snapdragon. HTC One too had same hardware configuration but this time HTC has one step advanced Snapdragon chipset for its flagship. HTC One M8 will have Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 chipset, the latest hardware in town for mobile phones. This chipset will house with Quad-core 2.3 GHzKrait 400 for US and Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 for Asian countries along with 2GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU making the phone to have latest hardware with powerful configuration.

The performance of the phone is excellent wherein if you want to make a sudden presentation you can easily browse content from web and copy it on your presentation suite without any lag and get going immediately. If you are gamer and fond of HD gaming then this configuration won’t let you down and will allow you to play your favorite game easily and smoothly.

    Re: HTC One M8 Review

    Camera:

Revolution in camera is now a tradition in HTC, it came up with Ultra-pixel in predecessor and now HTC has new surprise for the world. HTC has given Dual 4MP camera which can capture image at 2688 x 1520 pixels. Dual 4MP means HTC has two camera lenses which is seen in 3D camera lenses which captures images same like eyes. HTC Dual 4MP camera will have 1/3'' sensor size for wide aperture and 2m pixel size which captures brilliant images. Wide aperture of the phone will let more light to enter in the lens of camera and results with bright and vibrant colours in images.

Even in low light conditions wide aperture plays an important role. So be it bright light or low light, the image quality is just the best. Other camera features are geo-tagging, automatic simultaneous video and image recording, HDR, face and smile detection and panorama. Video can be shot at full HD resolution at 30fps and also this phone also allows you to capture slow-motion video at 60fps. Phone also has front camera with 5MP and can capture images at 1080p resolution.

    Battery:

HTCs new flagship will have 2600 mAh battery, which is set smartly by HTC to serve their user with longer operation. Samsung S4 had same battery configuration which was the news of last year but this year Samsung S5 has 2800 mAh battery. HTCs new flagship has good battery which provides phone to have more than 13 hours of battery backup in 2G network and more than 19 hours in 3G networks. Battery of the phone is non-removable due to its unibody design which was the same in previous flagship of HTC. Battery is good for both average and heavy users as it performs fine in severe condition as well.

    Conclusion:

HTC One M8 has good hardware design and configuration which matches the latest ongoing trend of the market. It has one of the best displays you would see and the quality is not at all compromised with. It has appreciative viewing angle and sunlight readability with very high pixel density. The high quality innovative Camera of the phone is another attraction point of the phone.

Performance depends on the hardware which is just perfect and software of the phone is latest and has good look and feel due to latest HTC Sense 6.0 blink feed. The price is yet not revealed by HTC, though the phone is expected to come with a high price tag, given the outstanding features the phone holds.
