    LG G Pro Lite Review

After the huge success of LG G2, LG is all determined to stay in the flow. Now the company has come up with other handset in the same league, G pro Lite. The optimus signature hasnít helped LG much like the G2. So LG is trying out its luck again with it, Letís see if this phone works in LGís favour like the G2. The G Pro Lite offers a huge screen experience at an affordable price. This phone holds some really good features however it has compromised on some areas as well, like the display is 5.5inches but the resolution is just 540 x 960 (qHD). The phone is priced somewhere near to Rs.20,000.

One of the best parts of the phone is its battery, it offers the best battery life to an android handset. Also the user interface is attractive making most of the things customizable. I have given a full picture of what the phone looks like, its hardware, software, performance etc. to let you take a better decision on how good it is and shell out your money wisely. Let's test out the phablet closely, but before that have a look at its highlights:

    • Android 4.1.2 JellyBean OS
    • 5.5-inch IPS touch screen display
    • 960 ◊ 540 pixels resolutions
    • 1 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577processor
    • 1GB of RAM
    • 8 Megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor and LED Flash
    • 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera
    • 8GB internal memory, expandable upto 32GB using microSD
    • 3G (HSDPA: 7.2Mbps / HSUPA: 5.76Mbps), WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS / aGPS
    • 3140 mAh battery

LG G Pro Lite features a 5.5 inch 540 x 960 (qHD)display and looks very huge and decent. It has a glossy body and is greasy so you need to be careful while handling it. It has faux chrome edges making the design prominent. LG bank on too much on plastic however the phone is solid and has a thickness of 9.4mm. The highlight of the phone is the IR blaster added at the top. This IR blaster would help you control all the compatible devices in the area. It has a notification LED in the front. As far as sensor are concerned, G lite Pro doesnít have an ambient light sensor. It holds all the standard sets of button like volume rocker and unlock/ power button. It also has a quick launch button that can be used to launch an app of your choice.

LG G Pro Lite holds an 8MP camera with a single LED flash at the back. You can also see the speaker slots here. Within the backcover the phone hold a 3140mAh battery with two SIM slots. You will find a capacitive button for switching between the SIMís easily. There is a micro SD slot as well expandable up to 32GB. The phone comes with a capacitive stylus, well packed with the phone. The phone is powered by 1GHz dual core processor supported by 1GB RAM.It has a good internal memory of 8GB. The user interface is average as the phone runs on android 4.1.2 which is a bit ancient now. The battery and the IR blaster is the best thing you would find in this phone. The hardware part seems fine, but the software part is average.

Re: LG G Pro Lite Review

As mentioned in the hardware part the LG G pro Lite offers a huge 5.5 inch display which is unusual at this budget. However, it has a resolution of just 540 x 960 (qHD), thatís something you find in a 3.5inch display of iPhone. The display looks fine but is not very impressive at the details are not very sharp. Colours look bright and the viewing angle is nice. If you look at the picture from different angle you see very slight change in the tinge, considering the price the display is good. LG has earlier offered really good stuffs like true HD IPS plus, however the price of the phone donít seem to have qualified for it I think.

LG thought to do well without an ambient light sensor with this one. However, the visibility was satisfactory during day time and there was not much problem of reflection. The display has very good brightness. On the huge display, watching HD videos is a delight. It comes with DivX HD video format and MKV files support. The phone feels good in palm and playing game is fun too. Low resolution does hamper the fun slightly; however while reading texts you can choose to zoom in for better readability.

    Operating System and UI:

The UI of G pro Lite is an android smartphone with LGís Breeze UI. It is good and adds a lot more the android features. Browsing through the phone is smooth, though we found a little delay in animations. Apps load quickly most of the time but sometimes it does slow down. The phone holds a scrollable shortcut bar in the drop down menu. The quick memo would let you scribble anytime on the phone using the stylus. Like windows phone, you can resize certain app using the Q-slide feature of the phone. You can also adjust the transparency using this software. On huge display phones the users usually face the problem of typing text.

To address this issue, LG has provided a customizable keyboard to its G Pro Lite. You can simply break the keyboard into two that shifts towards the edges to give a simple accessibility or you can choose the path mode where you can type by browsing through the letters with your fingers. You can also use single hands to type by aligning the keyboard towards left or right. You can watch videos and browse through internet at the same time using the video player as the Qslide app. Overall the UI is creative, simple and easy to use.

    Hardware and Performance:

LG G Pro Lite features a 1GHz dual core processor. However it has chosen the MediaTek MT6577 which is not very impressive. The functioning speed is average. Apps open quickly most of the time and most of the heavy games ran smoothly. You can watch videos of 720p in this handset and there is no additional extension. The phone is supported by 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory and comes with micro SD slot expandable up to 32GB. So memory space is good and it lets you stream videos and try out games effortlessly.

Heavy games runs on a lower frame rate than expected. Multitasking ability of the handset is good. Sound quality of the phone is great, it was loud and clear. Inbuilt music player supports many codecs, customizable equalizer presets and has a wide variety of other options. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity is good and the phone supports GPS and USB 2.0.

The LG G Pro lite has an 8MP camera with LED flash and auto focus option. The snaps taken looks bright and clear, though you would have to ensure the images were properly focuses upon as focussing is a bit slow. This is mainly due to the MediaTek chipset rather that the sensors. You have to wait for a moment after clicking the picture. The interface is same as that of the other LG handset. There are different modes like the panorama, continuous shot, night mode, sport and beauty shot.

You can click your own portrait using the cheese shutter. You can record videos of 720p. Video quality was fine, though it is limited to 720p. Picture quality is fine but some time it does look soft and edges are not very sharp, this might be due to the focus issue. White balance needs to be a worked upon as sometimes the photos look too bright. I tried shooting both outdoor and indoor photos and videos. Indoor photos assisted by LED flash were wonderful, outdoor photos on all the modes are pronounced. Audio in the video is loud and sharp.

Re: LG G Pro Lite Review

    Battery Life:

G Pro Lite is backed by a 3140mAh battery, which is really powerful. You can easily push the battery life to more than 2 days on 2G, many hours of texting and with a bit of video playback and gaming. On 3G you can expect the battery to last for nearly one and half day. With the battery saver app you can manage your battery in a much better way. Also if you care to put of Wi-Fi and other apps when not in use saves a lot of charge that would not require you to charge your handset again and again. This phone offers the best battery life which is uncommon in the android handset of the same price.

LG G Pro Lite is offers a huge display and strong battery life at around Rs.20,000. Performance of the phone is average and the camera could have done better. The low resolution lowers the attractiveness of the big display and video playback of only 720p is possible. Also there is not ambient light sensor and the phone also lacks connectivity options like NFC and GLONASS which is found in other phones of the same league. The RAM and memory is fine but it has an outdated processor that makes the performance of the phone a bit lousy.

The UI is good but other phones in the market are coming with new features and really attractive UI. Considering the overall features and price, I think there are much better options in the market like Galaxy Grand, Sony Xperia C or the Lumia handset or even you can opt for the Moto G which is much cheaper.
