Installing Android 4.4 Kitkat in HTC HD2 with SlimKat ROM

HTC HD2 is an Android phone. The phone offers you a nice screen with 5mp camera. It is portable and impressive. Now this phone comes with an old android operating system and not it is possible to install Android new on that as we are not getting any OTA update. In this guide I am going to show you how you can install Android 4.4 kitkat on HTC HD2. Kitkat is the latest edition of Android operating system offering more smart features and great performance.

The process will flash windows and overwrite windows over the device. So here you will loose your old operating system and there is no way to restore back unless you backup the rom. This process also voids phones official warranty. This is a custom rom which is available for free and works really well on the device. Officially HTC HD2 will never get android update. So here you can go with the custom process to install the same. Before moving ahead have a look on all the requirements.

    • Backup your phone data. Backup everything. Your contacts, photos, videos, etc. The process is going to format the phone completely. So stay on the safer side copy everything and later on you can restore it.
    • Go in the settings panel and tap on application. Go under development and enable usb debugging. This process is necessary to flash the os.
    • Before moving ahead ensures that your phone must have maximum battery left. There must be more than 60% of battery in your phone. Less than that can cause issue.
    • You have to root the mobile phone before moving ahead. The process does not work on unrooted device. If you are not sure then install Root checker app in the device and test through that.
    • Download Android 4.4 KitKat firmware.
    • Install ROM Manager App in the phone.

    Installation Process:

    • You will need a memory card to copy the Kit Kat 4.4 Android firmware. Copy the file and insert it in the phone. Remember that the process will only work if your device is rooted. So do not forget to check the root status.
    • The next thing you can have to do is boot your phone in recovery mode. For that you can install Rom Manager App from Google Play.
    • Launch the app and then choose to start in recovery mode.
    • From the recovery screen select wipe Data and Clear cache.
    • Once you are done with that you have to go back on the main screen and choose install zip from SD card. Select the firmware zip file that you had copied in the memory card.
    • The process of installation will begin. Wait back until it is over.

Once done restart your phone and enjoy the new OS.
